While studying for these subject tests is it necessary to take notes to score well?

So I have been studying for both the biology and the U.S. History sat 2’s. So far my method has been reading a chapter. Then writing notes for the chapter. Then after I make flashcards for the chapter. Then on various days I review the notes during lunch at school, etc. so I wanted to know if whether or not taking notes is necessary, because for me it’s very time consuming. So do you think I should stop taking notes for every chapter or do you think the note taking is beneficial to my study routine?
I know it is difficult to answer this since it’s different for everyone, but based on your experiences is note taking necessary to do well on the subject tests or can I just get away with the prep books and flashcards?
By the way I can’t write in the prep books since I borrowed them from the library.

For me personally it’s sufficient to write flashcards, because there you’re already processing the info and kind of like writing notes. With this strategy I’m able to get A+s in history…

Nevertheless, everybody learns and recalls information differently, so I don’t know what’s the best strategy for you.

Okay. Thanks

For US History, I have been reading Princeton Review and doing their mini tests at the end of each chapter. History learning is mostly reading. I do not think you need that many flashcards/notes for each paragraph. Just memorize the information and move on and move on. If something is important but hard to remember, write it on your notes. Graphs in Prep Books definitely help sometimes as well. Good luck!

Thank you! You too.
