i suspect your right…if no one has gotten anything by 3pm I’ll start thinking it’ll be another week…

never mind. i got rejected. thanks for transfer of information guys

Accepted - here’s what they look like:

Dear Applicant-

Thank you for applying to the 2009 Fall White House Internship Program. We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to the Fall 2009 program. We will send you more detailed information about your internship soon, so please check your e-mail. We look forward to working with you this fall!

Sincerely,

Internship Program Team

No information about department or anything else.

Congrats to others who got in, and good luck to those who got bad news today, I’m sure you’ll find something else, and if this is what you really want to do, there will be additional chances.

Rejected, too. Congrats to those who were accepted. Out of curiosity, anyone know how competitive it was this year? Like the number of spots and number of applicants? Might make me feel better…

here is my first post

have been reading along for a few weeks…

got rejected, it does make me feel better knowing that a law school graduate got accepted, and not just someone with an UG degree

ok, now time to focus on LSAT and figure internship stuff out later!!!

I was also rejected. For people that were worried about the WH monitoring the board, I think it is clear that they didn’t. You can all come out of the woodwork now/next time.

I got accepted too. Very exciting!

I am really so sorry for those who weren’t accepted. There is really nothing I can say, other than everything in life happens for a reason, and hopefully this is no exception. And as cheesy and unsolicited as it may sound, there is always next time! Hopefully you can apply again.

Seriously, best of luck to everyone. And thank you all for making these last few weeks just a little more bearable. This board was all that kept me sane!

I got accepted as well.

However, those who didn’t get accepted - have faith! I was rejected from the summer class and was crushed. I reapplied for the fall, even though I was down about the whole program.

Also, I just graduated in May with my BA, and NO I did not go to an Ivy. Anyone can get this! Best of luck to everyone. If this is your dream, like it was mine - go for it!

I got it. Congrats to all! :)

And let me know if you need to know about housing!
Just leave a notice up here and I’ll get you my email address for further contact.

Holy Eff. Accepted.

Hey. This is a bit random, but I was just wondering if any of the people interviewed remembered the number they called you from. DC numbers are area code 202. I’ve heard that WH can block their numbers on caller ID. I’ve just had an 800 number that’s been calling me and I’m just trying to confirm it was not the WH. Any help on this would be great.

So it’s blarg, vivalamusica, belmont1, paddington, and satya who got it? Congrats to you all–that’s awesome! Would you’all mind sharing a little bit of information about the office(s) you interviewed with, and maybe a little about your qualifications? That way when I apply again in the Spring (along with others on this board), I can get a sense of what they are looking for.

Thanks, and congrats again.

Accepted! Congrats to everyone who got it (guess I’ll see you in person in a few weeks!) and best of luck to all of those who didn’t.

Yeah, I’d really appreciate advice from the people who got accepted.

I worked like crazy for a number of campaigns, and was strongly recommended by highly reputable people who knew me well. I don’t know how I could have been better, so it would be nice to see what you guys did.

If anyone doesn’t mind sharing essays or their app, or even just talking --email eibl.eibesfeldt@gmail.com.

Also, whoever got the chief-of-staff internship, congratulations. I’m sure it will be amazing.

I’m in, too. I’ve been lurking here for the past couple of weeks, on edge. :)

Send me something at hola_adios123■■■■■■.com if you want to talk further about any of this!

Congrats to all accepted and good luck to those who got it. We definitely need to stay in contact.

I am going to start an email chain for those who were accepted who want to share information. You know, stuff about housing, communications from the WH, just general info about ourselves. So if you want to get in on that, just private message me your email address. After I hear from a few people, I will send out an email to everyone so that we have each other’s contact information. And I look forward to meeting you all in just a few weeks! Congrats!

Well, my qualifications are pretty high for this internship. I’m a JD, from Georgetown, finished pretty solid in my class. I have worked (unpaid) for human rights advocacy groups for the past year, and I was a field organizer with the campaign. I also submitted my application materials late, and I think they only got one letter of recommendation from my professors. But I suspect I’m overqualified, so I wouldn’t use me as a baseline for what it takes to get in.

I feel my qualifications are severely lacking compared to some people. I’ll give a quick overview.

I’m going to start in late 2007. Because my entire life prior to 2007 was a waste of time. With zero useful volunteer work, community service, or distinguishing accomplishments.

I was a student at my state university (slightly better than average for state universities). I volunteered for Obama in a few early primary/caucus states, including Iowa. In the meantime I campaigned and was elected as a delegate from my college town to the 2008 DNC, this was a huge honor for me because I had no idea what I was doing and I was not a native of this congressional district. That summer I joined the Obama Organizing Fellowship in my college town, and then was hired as a Field Organizer at the end of July – so I took the semester off from college. After the campaign I completed my lame B.S. degree and helped out getting all of our state volunteer **** transferred to Organizing for America, and getting the new volunteer leadership off the ground.

Now I’m doing this.

My essays were total crap. If you read them you would cry. I wrote my memo on health care, but I had no real policy knowledge. My essay about me was total nonsense. It was true, but it had no cohesive narrative. I can’t imagine it was persuasive. All the letters I had were from people who had met me within the past year. Because anyone who knew me before that would have known me as “the lazy antisocial dorm drunk.”

I got an interview a few weeks ago. It was with no particular White House office. I’m pretty sure it was just a general interview with the Internship staff. And I thought I did pretty bad.

I have some friends I met on the campaign now doing government work, but I dunno how much influence they can have when the selection is supposedly done by DOB/SSN. I know zero senators or congressmen. I don’t know my own governor or my own mayor. I don’t even know my state representatives.

If you want to contact me, use blargeff@live.com. I will el-oh-el for infinity if I got the Chief of Staff internship. But no word yet on which office.

If nothing else. I hope my story demonstrates – there is hope for everyone! Even if you’re a total screw-up.

Hi,

I was accepted into the Fall program as well. I am a bit overqualified for it, such as the Georgetown JD grad is, but am viewing the internship as a launching point. I’m glad there will be other recent grads in the program, as as it will give it a more serious tone, and as I will be treating it as more of an opportunity to prove myself.

I graduated from Dartmouth college in 2006 and was accepted to an Ivy League Law School. I took time off to work on the Obama campaign and became a staffer. I’m hoping to continue my work in the administration.

Looking at my application again, my essays actually had a good amount of grammatical errors. But my resume was strong and I have been working in public service since I started college. Hope that helps.
