White House Internship

I dont know if the background check they would do on WH Interns would stray far away from the basic credit check/criminal background check that is done of most basic govt. employees. One of my college buddies is an intern coordinator on the hill. He says that they will run that type of check on interns before they get to DC, but wouldn’t go much deeper than that. Something tells me that there have already been preliminary background checks performed and really the only thing left would be the drug test.

Im sure they have some kids on a wait list in case of someone declining an offer or some other reason that gets in the way.

Well judgement day is here guys! Best of luck to all! Please post if you get accepted, and if so where

I think they might tell us around 12:30-1:00 est!! The wait is killing me.

wow, I’m going crazy!!! I’m starting to think they’re going to wait until 4:59 pm to send out emails :)

Yea i am thinking 1:00pm too. The SSN email was around 1:00 pm. Whenever it is I just want the wait to be over with!

“Best things come to those that wait.” I bet the person who came up with the piece of wisdom never had to wait like this! :)

well, let’s post as soon as we hear back!! (either way-- we did the work of applying and we can hold our heads up high!!)

Agreed aspiringWHI! Intern 2000 do you have any info to back up the 1230-1 guess? Or was that just bc of the SSN email?

Thats when they sent out emails last time. What did you guys write for your memo topic? Just trying to make conversation as we wait! haha

I thought they went out at around 2pm est last time? Either way, I’m ready for the shoe to drop. I wrote my memo on redistributing NASA’s budget after the retirement of the shuttles but before the launch of the Orion Program to send the grounded Astronauts on educational and promotional tours and lectures to reintroduce the country to the space program and hopefully justify a trip to Mars.

np006: I’d offer you a spot merely by looking at your synopsis of your memo.

I wrote about how to deal with the expanding federal prison budget.

Intern2000: Hey, thanks!

My essay was on the Colombian Free trade agreement and the barriers affecting its progress due to human rights violations. Mostly it detailed a rewording of the state dept. appropriations legislation in congress that would put specific performance benchmarks on the colombian government and therefore legitimize the sizable monetary and military aid we continue to provide while maintaining our position against governments that blindly allow HR violations.

I wrote mine on the VA and concentrating reallocation of funds from a closing of Guantanomo to improving Walter Reed among other VA hospitals

i wrote about what is being done to end mountaintop removal mining, and why the president should support those actions
i’m so ready fo find out one way or the other

I tried contacting the office but went straight to voicemail…

i went back and looked at the posts from the summer group and the fall group, they all had heard by 2…

waiting another week was not be fun, to say the least.

hey, i spoke to the person who interviewed me (he gave me his contact info) and he told me that they found out this morning that the notifications will go out on tuesday now.

ehhh so more waiting to do.
