White House Internship

I was told responses will be given the week of April 7th. Good luck to everyone.

The White House CEQ program emailed me a few days ago to schedule an interview for this Monday.

I know that some of you are pretty informed about the process, does anyone know some of the interview questions/format? Anything I should watch out for?

Thanks!

congrats sachinJ you got a interview that cant be a bad thing good luck

makes me anxious that i have not heard anything… only time will tell

Mind expanding on what CEQ is? Is that the name of one of the offices, or the name of the program in general?

Hey! Has anyone else had an interview? From which office? Further emails? I have applied in the past, and in my experience, some offices don’t get around to interview until the week before the deadline, which has occasionally been pushed back.

Nothing yet.

i got an email today telling me that “additional information is necessary,” and that I should fill out a form by March 25th. did anyone else get this email?

I received the same e-mail, but when I went to fill-out the form, it says that none of the data can be saved. Does anyone know how to upload the attachment to the reply e-mail with the information filled-out?

The reason you can’t edit the PDF is because you haven’t purchased Adobe. I had the same issue so I’m just now sending in the form. If you can’t find a way around the problem, a White House Intern (Jaime Moore) emailed me and said to:

Otherwise, try finding a public library, etc. that might have the full version of Adobe installed on their computer network.

I also got one of the e-mails. Does anyone know if they send these out to everybody or is this some type of likely letter?

Ye I also got this email and sent in the form back. Maybe its a likely email type thing. Who knows…

darn no email for me…guess that is a bad sign

It’s not a likely email. My friend did the WH Internship last summer and is re-applying this summer and called a friend to see what this was about, and was told the system had some confusion matching letter of recs to applicants after they came in so they’re verifying some basic information.

Even if it isn’t a likely letter it was cool to get some type of contact from the WH. I hope they are able to get all of my rec’s properly matched up with my app. because I had one that I know was my strongest rec and it would be a shame if it was lost.

I actually called the White House internship office, and they said that it wasn’t about a complication with recommendations. They said it’s “definitely a good sign.”

No offense, but as much as I’d like to believe you WH2010, I’m more inclined to believe someone with 610 posts (roneald) over someone with 1 post (you). That being said, I remain skeptical of any and all information in these types of threads and I would advise others to be so as well. Alleged conversations with staff members and former interns essentially mean nothing until an official decision is communicated.

Feel free to call 202-456-1414, request the internship office, and ask for yourself.

The office also said applicant status updates (not necessarily decisions) are being released on April 5th. Cheers.

Hey, has anybody had their referances contacted?

To be frank, what did you expect them to tell you?

“Hey, we were disorganized with our server so we’re verifying information.”

or

“Nothings wrong with anything, we’re just asking you for the same information multiple times because we wanted to make sure you spelled your name right and put in the right birthday because people often get those things wrong on internship applications.”

or

“Nothing’s wrong, if anything receiving this email was definitely a good sign!”

That being said, I agree with LW Trojan: don’t take mine (or anyone else’s) word for truth until you hear an official announcement from the WH office itself.

Wait, so you think lying to someone about their chances and getting their hopes up is a standard response? I strongly disagree. She could’ve easily said she was not at liberty to answer my question.

I do agree that all of this means nothing until official decisions are sent out. That being said, I’m going to trust the intern I spoke to. Even if they were “likely” emails, there’s still the interview process which cuts the finalists in half.
