WHITMAN CLASS 2022 RD

Also did anyone get the voucher for the spring campus visit to Whitman?? I was wondering about it, since they said it would be sent to those chosen with their acceptances, but are there acceptances mailed along with those sent online? Maybe it’s sent thru mail??

It’s probably in the package that’s being sent through FedEx

Just a water bottle with Whitman logo in the FedEx package.

@bogeyorpar, did your package already come?

Yeah, it’s FedEx, so arrived in two days.

My daughter’s FedEx package isn’t supposed to get here until Monday. Almost a week after it shipped.

Wait do all the international applicants also get a tracking number and stuff in the mail ??

Aloha! My son got his acceptance to Whitman, along with a great financial aid package (merit and Lomen-Douglas). We are so grateful and excited! He was also invited to attend the Admitted Student Day in April (expenses paid). So thrilled!

Congratulations everyone!

congrats!! if you dont mind me asking, did he receive the invitation through the online portal?

@netison Hi! Thanks! Yes, the invitation was in a separate tab/link in the portal.

I applied to Whitman early decision 1 in November and was accepted. I also came to Whitman to audition for the music scholarships (Campbell and Higley). I received $1000 out of $4000 total (i think) for the Campbell one which I read on the website is for non music majors. I put on my audition application that I was planning on double majoring in music and was wondering if anyone else received scholarship money for the non major one even though they declared a music major in writing?

fumblebee, I would direct this question to the admissions office, it is a very reasonable question and you need a first hand response from the college. My son graduated from Whitman in 2014 so there may be different staff in the office, but Whitman is known for being helpful and friendly.

@fumblebee My daughter had same thing happen (declared as double major). What is weird is that she got a letter from orchestra director prior to receiving acceptance that she was getting one of the biggest awards. Then just got $1000 (Campbell) plus $800 for lessons (which I think should be included as a major). But she did get a 20K academic award. I think maybe the amount of merit you can get is limited so it is one or the other or combination to get to total. Not sure but this is my guess. Did you also get an academic scholarship?

@Veryapparent I received a total of a little over 32k for all financial aid (merit/need/loan/work study) and that was all before I received $1000 from Campbell and $800 for lessons. I guess that we had just assumed that since I declared a double major in writing I would get some portion of the Higley, if anything, which goes up to $8000.

@netison, congratulations! I noticed that nobody answered your questions from earlier posting. Whitman is a FABULOUS school. It’s in the heart of wine country, in a beautiful small city, Walla Walla, that has two other colleges in town (Walla Walla University and the local CC). It’s a sophisticated town with a wine-country-meets-country feel to it. Great restaurants and a slew of tasting rooms. You might need to be the designated driver when parents come to visit! The students are smart, engaging, fun and caring. It’s a small school, so the community aspect is a top seller. Many of our valedictorians (from one of the top HS in WA) go to Whitman. It’s like a small East Coast LAC without the intense attitude. It has an excellent reputation academically. A friend of my son’s (a current senior) just got into grad school at Princeton. Many go on to grad school or med school. Whitties are a tribe and the school has a strong alum network. This matters for later in your career for networking. The President is impressive and has had positive impact on the school and its future. This matters because the next four years are a huge investment for you and your family. Whitman is a small school, so if you want a more intimate setting and close community, you’ll love it. Hope this helps.

Has anyone received the Walla Walla Sweet Onions yet?
