I was awarded 68k over 4 years, when people say scholarship amounts, they usually say the per year amount.
Okay, got it! That’s incredible! Congratulations!
Hey @sunshine@11- which college will she choose? Whitman or St Olafs or does she have another favorite?
@Whistlingal no idea! I know she really LOVED St. Olaf, but it will come down to the visit and overnight. Still waiting on a few others. I think overnights will help her decision process.
hi guys!! I found out I got into Whitman with 35k in merit per year. It’s a really good deal, so I’m considering it, but I honestly don’t know too much about Whitman or Walla Walla. Can anyone tell me the things that stood out to them about Whitman?? I’d appreciate it so much!!
also it’s so wholesome that whitman tells you what they specifically liked about your app!! haha
@netison, are you sure you were offered 35K per year merit scholarship? Whitman’s top merit scholarship is 20K per year. Does the 35K include need-based grants, loans, workstudy, etc? Perhaps a music or art scholarship? They do have the Paul Garrett & Claire Sherwood Scholarships that are up to 60K, but they will do interviews for those in the spring. I am just trying to clarify.
Yep sorry!! It includes merit scholarship and another separate scholarship! Sorry for confusion!!
My daughter just said that she got an email from FedEx saying that a package from Whitman was shipped to her. Did anyone else get that? Do they send official acceptance letters FedEx? That seems expensive to me.
@pcmom1 I got that as well! It listed the weight as 1lb, so it might be a goody box of sorts like Reed gives out with acceptances–although I didn’t know that Whitman sent out anything special with acceptances-- or 1lb might just be the minimum weight input online for that particular package.
I’m kind of hopeful that it might be some sort of additional scholarship notification or something… I haven’t received package tracking on any of my other acceptance letters to date.
@newkidnewtrix it could be a Whitman t-shirt or sweatshirt class of 2022
@pcmom1 I just checked with a friend who was also accepted to Whitman and they didn’t receive an email… hm. I wonder why.
@netison @DSlavaSlav @CroissantMiser @calgal @InquiringMom3 @ireallylovedogs @monkeyg56 @Laura7777 and others who were accepted: did you get a fedex tracking email?
Would be super cool if it was a t-shirt!
My S got the tracking number too.
My D did not receive a tracking number, but her friend, who was also admitted, did receive one.
Edit: minutes after I posted this, she got a tracking number. Also, a letter officially telling her about the music scholarship.
I got a tracking number today and my friend who was admitted received one yesterday
Yep I got one! And I agree… I want something to wear lol
OK. sounds like it went out to everyone. Perhaps it is the string bag that they used to send out to the people that submitted their applications before Dec 1 and now they are sending it to all the accepted students. I guess we will see when it gets here.
I was accepted with $49,900 scholarship merit base per year. I won the Lomen- Douglas Scholarship. I was definitely chocked and excited to have been given this opportunity. I applied as a engineering major so I will be doing there 3-2 program and I hope to go to Caltech after my third year.
