All have their perks, I got accepted to 8 but it is down to these.

Whitman: Beautiful campus, happy students that i get along with, great education

Colgate: Kinda prestigious, stunning campus, great education, great post grad opportunities and alumni relations.

Bates: Great education and I could be on their crew team.

Colo College: Love the block plan, love the campus, but a little too close to home (Im from denver)

Grinnell: They have tons of money and probably have the best overall education of the bunch. Plus they have the funding to do pretty much whatever I want.

Have you visited these schools? Do you plan to? They are all very good colleges, but it depends on what you are looking for. I know nothing about Whitman except what I’ve read on CC, all positive. Colgate and Bates are, imo, on the preppy side. My son was looking for more unconventional thinkers and he found that at Grinnell. If you are really interested in learning and willing to work at it, you would love Grinnell. It is in a very small, rural town, but there are tons of activities on campus. It is, I’m sure, not the best choice for everyone. You have a lot of great options and could get a fine education at any of them. You need to figure out which one feels best to you.

What kind of school are you looking for? Our S will be attending Grinnell in the fall. He visited and did an overnight at Whitman as well. Whitman was very nice, but he feel in love with Grinnell.

What do you want to major in and what is your ideal campus setting like? Are you looking for the greek scene, preppy, pretentious, non-pretentious…

Do you know what you want to major in?

Grinnell is probably the most academic and is known for being a very down to earth. What specific questions do you have?
