I, too, am applying Early Action to Oxford. I'm visiting this Friday, so I can't really say much other than I'm really excited for it lol. Feel Free to chance me, I'm applying undecided.

p.s. from what i hear, visiting is a big boost in their decision, but then again maybe this person was just wrong.

Hey everyone! I'm applying early action. It is definitely one of my top choices.

I visited and loved the campus.
I posted my stats on another thread here so if anyone wants to see them or chance me, then you can check it out. =)

Also, if I am accepted/attend, I would then try for the undergrad Goizueta School of Business afterwards.
I would hopefully be planning to live in their new 'green dorms', but I bet the room assignment process is uber random. It is also waaaaay future thinking haha, I'm just focusing on applying right now.

I just wish everyone good luck!

GSW Fan,
Visiting does help, I live 45 minutes away from the campus so I've been there a few times. When you visit, suggest to see East Village Residence Hall..its the new green one that Rose303 is talking about, its amazing. Also, what do you want to pursue after Oxford. Emory College of Arts and Science, Goizueta Business School, or Woodruff School of Nursing.

Hey rose303,
I also want to go to Goizueta, they have an awesome business program..its ranked 5th in the nation! What area of business do you want to pursue?

i'd probably want to do arts and sci. maybe business though. i have yet to decide which, but probably arts and sci. do you guys think i'd get in

GWS Fan,
I think you have a good chance. Oxford is going to have a lot of applicants this year, relative to last year because of there increased publicity. I was talking to a couple of people that go there and this is what they told me greatly raises your chances for admission at Oxford, if your grades aren't extremely great.

Don't apply for financial aid on the Oxford App.

Apply Early

Write an AMAZING essay

Visit, visit, visit

atlatl, yeah, their business school is great.
i'm not sure about what area just yet. how about you? :)

and is the East Village Residence Hall really that amazing? I couldn't see it on my tour as it was being constructed.

btw, thanks for the tips!

I like the Organization and Management program they offer.

Well compared to Oxford's old residence hall that was brought down, they are very nice. The rooms are pretty spacious if you arrange your furniture efficiently. One dorm I saw had 2 beds, 2 desks, 2 fridges, a sink, window, 2 closets, 2 laundry hampers, and a small portable pantry. The lobby is also really contemporary and well furnished.

One thing I really dislike about Oxford is that the gym is open for only like 10 hours on weekdays and 8 hours on weekends.

how do you guys feel about the dry campus and small, if any, party scene? im not saying thats waht college is about it's a bonus.

hey mentalmystic,
Honestly the party scene is kind of dry but the majority of kids looking to have fun, especially the OOS, just head over to Emory's main campus which is in the heart of Atlanta. It's about 30 inutes away from campus. Atlanta is a huge party city with clubs, shows, fine dining, and a bunch of shopping areas.

One thing about Oxford is that a lot of the time the kids tend to be the kind of people who aren't a big fan of partying. The people I know that go there have there own group, but a lot of other people there are more mellow and not looking for a party.

OOS?

that's true atlanta is an amazing city, but i would like for my campus to be where it's at, entirely. i can't decide if i should apply early action to oxford, because i don't know what type of student they are looking for in that pool... does anybody know? Like are they the school's academic elite, are they considering ECs or just stats etc?

OOS - out of state

I'm not sure, I'm applying early action because it is my first choice, so if I don't get in I can apply regular decision to other schools

atlatl, where are you from?

mentalmystic ,
i agree with atlatl, its also one of my top choices so I'm applying EA.

from what I know and have heard, Oxford is very diff. from the main campus. The number of students is smaller, the classes are smaller, and the town is smaller. It depends on you as a person as to whether it would be a good fit & if you would like that. Many kids head off to Atlanta to have fun, which is around a 35 min. drive, but I understand that Oxford's workload can be pretty demanding (especially for pre-med), so the academic work will occupy a lot of time. But a lot of people like to hang out in each others dorms and such, as well as the town nearby. There are also things happening on campus with clubs/activities. If you'd like to see more of a typical day, you can check out the Oxford blogs: Oxford College - Oxford Blogs.

For admissions, they consider both stats, AND ECs.

I'm from Lawrenceville, GA..its about 40 minutes away from Oxford.

I might apply (if I do then it will be early action). I'm from Oregon and these are my stats:
GPA- 3.11 (4.0 junior year)
SAT- 1230/1600 1780/2400
Major- Undecided (Probably going to do Econ or Goizueta School of Business)
Do you guys think that I can get in??

This thread needs some action, so here's a bump

One more month! This whole time period of waiting is crazy.
I also applied early decision to my first choice school so it's all very nerve-wracking.
I hope we all get in! :)!!

wow, this thread has been so inactive lately =[
anyone else here apply early action to oxford?
(15 more days!)

i did, first choice :)
