Who are you voting for:Obama or McCain

I voted absentee for Bob Barr today in California.

Both Obama and McCain will run up the national debt. Both are hawkish in their foreign policies. Both support the Patriot Act and voted for the FISA bill that immunizes telecom companies from legal action from citizens whose civil liberties may be infringed upon. Need I say more?

Obama all the way!

3 more days until our first black president! WOOOOOTTTT!!!

Don't be so confident that BO will win. Kerry was 4 pts ahead in the polls in 04 right before the election. Especially since the polls are far from objective, as many are surveying a disproportionate number of Democrats. Remember the moral/silent majority.
All those Obamaghanda posters are an absolute joke. Quite reminscent of WW2 and WW1 propaghanda. When Europe endorses an ultra liberal politician, we should be worried. But the disillusioned and uninformed who are enamored by BO, failing to be objective. Look at the posters, the shirts and the stickers. It's a bunch of propaghanda. It's sad that people actually buy into such BS, but then again the ignorant make up a large portion of society. Take away the name, take away the bright lights and meaningless rhetoric, and objectively dissect his record, and his company. It is unbelievable that such an unqualified and dishonest man, with very questionable associations.
Running for president is essentially a 8 month job interview, and who would hire the least qualified applicant?
His policies are very much in line with Jimmy Carter's, and everyone should know how that turned out. Maybe it was for the greater good, as 1984 through 08 the presidents have been mostly conservative, and clinton was fairly moderate. So if BO gets elected, the country will be f****d economically, and the nation will realize liberalism is a flawed and misguided political ideolodgy. Look at BO's donor list, he has received donations from family members of major corps, oil companies, and fraudulent donors (as in getting a max donation from a child under 10, multiple times). He has voted for tax breaks for big oil. His canidacy is based on hypocrisy.

I'd much rather listen to Obama's * propoganda * than yours.

The economic disasters under Carter were caused largely by the presidents before him.

And please don't take the Carter / Obama analogy so far. It's almost as ridiculous as comparing Obama to Osama. The only similarities they have are their relative inexperience and their representation of "change".

Do you know what the definition of propaghanda is?
Can you please elaborate, or are you doing a hit and run statement?
BO spews a bunch of BS, his economic policies are very similiar in theory to Jimmy Carter, read up on JC. His record is horrible, most absent democrat congressmen, didn't vote on numerous legislation for personal gain, Joe Biden has questionable ethics, raising the capital gain taxes with market instability is a horrible idea (and it has been proven that raising the CGT has decreased gov revenue), palling around with an Afro centric racist isn't exactly appealing, he accepted $200,000+ back in Ill. from oil company execs' spouses, his wife received a $100,000 because he was elected to the senate, his aunt has resided in the US illegally for 4 years and recieved benefits such as public housing, his tax policies are flawed and ambiguous and will not pass as is, no foreign policy experience whatsoever(he formulated his Iraq policy before he visited the middle east), stated he would militarily strike Pakistan while simultaenously criticizing the Iraq and Afghanistan war, voted among party lines 98% of the time(not very bipartisan), voted for tax breaks that included tax cuts for oil companies, hasn't sponsored or co sponsored anything that's passed, has 3 yrs national office experience but was still the most absent congressman, health care plan is no better than McCain's and will not ensure that all americans have health insurance, would appoint justices based on litmus test(support Planned Parenthood of SE PA v Casey which re affirmed roe v wade), would give $120 billion over 10 yrs for alt energy research but does not say where that money is coming from or who will recieve that money(probably his buddies), connections to ACORN, Wright and Rezko, does not walk the walk in terms of taking a smaller piece of pie so others can have more, supports partial birth abortion, paid women on staff on average $6,000 less than men, expand the size of gov even more than Bush, etc;
Claiming he is somehow above "washington politics" is fallicious. The media fuels biased reporting that supports BO, becuase most major media outlets are liberal leaning (except fox and wall street journal). What exactly did the Democrats do in the last 2 years? Oh, that's right, nothing. They voted for a Wall Street bailout that included a tax break for NASCAR.
Try being a bit objective and look beyond the empty rhetoric. History is filled with skilled orators who turned out to be horrible leaders.

Jimmy Carter and BO both have very similiar tax policies.
And BO, if elected, will deal with simalair problems created by previous presidents.
Both are running on the mantra of being better than washinton politics.
Both support foriegn policy focused on human rights and spreading democracy.
Both support expanded/big government.
Both have very little foriegn policy experience, and JC stumbled in handling issues in Iran and Afghanistan.
Both won disputed elections to start their political careers.
Both ran on the outside washington in terms of being removed by controversies in the past administrations(BO=Iraq, JC=watergate and nam)
Both were fueled in the primaries by suprise victories in Iowa, which generated increased media attention
Both will/did increased gov spending
Tax the rich heavily
Both raise capital gains tax
It is a great exaggeration to attempt to argue that a Jimmy Carter/BO comparison is equally strong as an BO/Bin Laden comparison.
The signs are there, and if people choose to ignore signs of BO's failed economic policies and inexperience, they're in for a rough 4 years

I think Obama will win, but...

I am eagerly awaiting the establishment of the Civilian National Security Force that is just as well funded as the military. Surely there is money for this, right? I wonder if Obama is imagining the "just as powerful" Civilian National Security Force as everyone carrying M16s or AK-47s.

If he closes every loophole as promised, saves every dime from Iraq, raises taxes on the rich and trims the federal budget as he's promised to do "line by line," he still doesn't pay for his list. If he's elected, the first fact hitting his desk will be the figure projecting how much less of a budget he has to work with - thanks to the recession. He gave us a very compelling vision with his ad buy tonight. What he did not give us was any hint of the cold reality he's facing or a sense of how he might prioritize his promises if voters trust him with the White House.

tiff90 you have posted wayyyyyyy too many times on this topic. Stop blowing your hot air you aren't changing anyone's opinions. You just need to sit back, take a zanex, and chill.

Racism is heavily apparent in this election.

Blacks, the youth, and Leftists voting for Obama.

Whites and conservatives voting for McCain.

And the rest of us...that is, those of us who vote based on political positions of candidates and who don't vote based on party lines or race...are left with what...a really bad idea of what may become if either is elected.

Riots on the streets of every major city if Obama loses, or...

Assassination of our President if McCain loses..

This country is in for a very rude awakening. It scares me.

Why do you even care? This is a discussion board last time I checked, which entails that you discuss topics with other posters. At least that is the common held definition, please correct me if I am wrong. I mean it seems like you need to relax if you feel the need to go on internet discussion boards and count the number of posts someone puts up. Pretty sad really.
I actually don't need drugs to relax, because nothing about posting on CC is worth getting worked up about. Just because what I write is not in line with popular opinion on this forum does not mean that it is "hot air". Nor is all the Obamaghanda changing mine. I mean the Obamanites don't really offer a substantive argument.

Interesting thread. Haven't read through it, but the majority will obviously be voting for Obama, considering it's a college forum.

I myself will be voting for McCain in 2 days.

Actually, the number of people on here for McCain are a lot more than you would think. The reason that Obama is heard about more is that his proponents tend to be more vocal.

Also, most people on CC aren't tools who just like Obama because it's the "in" thing. They actually have a (somewhat) researched viewpoint.

^I kinda agree with the vocal thing. Maybe it's just because I'm in a crazy-liberal college town, but there are so many pro-Obama, anti-McCain things. Like, there were people walking around with "F--- McCain" signs and other inappropriate things (because they couldn't come up with a legitimate argument against him), and anyone who puts up anything pro-McCain either gets it torn down and replaced with an Obama advertisement, or it just gets vandalized in another fashion.

Pretty immature and asinine, if you ask me.

make sure you vote, for whoever you are voting for.

Hmmm Republican Presidents improve the economy better than Democratic Presidents, huh? That is the common (mis)perception. Well, enough partisan rhetoric, let's look at the plain facts --- say, comparing the Democratic vs Republican Presidents from the last century.

*Please note that President Hoover (Republican) was not included, because, well, the Depression and all, and then it would just be an a$$ wooping for Republicans.

I know, I know --- Democrats inherit a ruined economy a lot, etc, etc. --- but c'mon, the Democrats got 'lucky' every single damn time? ROFL --- I'm looking forward to the prosperity created by O'bama.

Large business owner (happens to be plumber) ---

Obama wants me to pay full health coverage for my employees and give them 3 additional paid sick days, which I should have been doing earlier.

This will obviously cost me money. But in order to maintain my current lifestyle (5 filet mignots every friday night and a new car every year) --- I will have to lay off 3-5 of my loyal, lifelong trusted employees. Yes, I am a dum f&&ker! And a true Republican.
