Poll - Which presidential candidate do you support?

Hey everybody!

My AP Gov't class is doing a project on the presidential race, and a component of this project is a poll of >50 people. I'm polling which presidential candidate you support and which issues are/were important to you in choosing this candidate.

Instructions:
Please state: (1) your age, (2) which candidate you support (Obama or McCain), (3) several reasons why you support that candidate.

It would really help me out (being a stressed senior and all) if you guys could answer. I really appreciate it!

17
Obama
~ending the war in Iraq and re-focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan
~ending Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy
~more financial aid!! :)

What analysis will you be performing with this data? We're not exactly a random sample here, lol...

Anywho:
1) 16
2) Obama (what, no third parties? ;P)
3) Policy, basically. I reject a good deal of the GOP's central platform, more than I do the Dem's, anyway. More of a "lesser evil" type of thing, so to speak. I guess key subjects where I favor Obama would be the Iraq war, (some slight favoritism in) taxation, and nearly every social issue imaginable (where they clash, that is). Really not particularly interested in listing anything substantive here, though, lol. Oh, and I also liked Obama's ScienceDebate2008 answers more. ;]

17
Obama
Focusing on children who can't afford college
Giving the middle class tax cuts
Ending our dependence on foreign oil

Obama
15
Essentially the same reasons as the ones listed above...

Obama
15
Health Care, War (both), Economy, basically everything

moodrets, all we're doing is graphing. there's an amazing amount of bias collecting information this way, but thankfully this poll doesn't have to be statistically sound.

17
Obama
Health care, taxes, education, war, environmental issues, and control over my body. Those are just the ones that popped into my head.

Obama- 16
-more natural energy sources (moves away from nuclear and oil)
-health care
-education plan (reform of NCLB)
-environmental reasons
(war and taxes too, but the ones above are most important to me)

Obama...

most people wishing to go to competitive colleges here usually have a liberal, open mind ya know. Bad site for polling. Maybe you should poll at a Christian forum opposing gay marriage just for balancing purposes... lol...

I like his health plan, environmental concerns, and I like how he presents himself. I also like the vice presidential candidate Biden.

18
Obama
1. The mere notion that Palin could possibly be in control scares me.
2. I think he would a better leader because he would stay calm and focused, instead of trying to draw the American people's attention towards other things he would deal with the issues at hand
3. Iraq war.
4. Health care. Education
5. Environmental concerns. He's realisitic. Studies have shown that offshore drilling will not change anything in the short term...it'll take over 10 years for it to even make an impact on oil prices.
6. American foreign policy: instead of choosing the holier than thou, big-bad America path, we would actually work with other countries instead of bullying them.

18
Obama

1.) Obama will be able to pull this country out of the recession. Many leading economists agree that Obama is more capable of handling the economy than McCain.
2.) Palin scares the pants off of me. The very thought she could be in control of this country is enough to vote for Obama.
3.) The GOP has failed the American people for the last eight years - Don't give them four more years of it!

I will be different :-)

18

McCain

Lower taxes for all classes, corporate tax cuts that will lower consumer costs + help companies stay in America, 11% capital gains tax instead of 40% for Obama (was a huge push factor for my family), also off-shore drilling - no short term affect, but will lower crude oil prices because of simple supply demand curve (surprisingly oil is 74.56 a barrel, but no focus on that), also he wants to finish the job in Iraq, can't really evacuate when there is a mess, probably some more things

(1) 17
(2) Obama
(3) Supports healthcare for all Americans and funding for Head Start, wants to get us out of Iraq, will get us out of the hole that Bush and the Republicans have dug, will let me make choices about my own body, will improve our standing internationally, wants to dramatically reform NCLB, will tax only those who can afford it. And lots more...I am definitely not a "lesser of two evils" kind of person!

1.
2. McCain
3. Making healthcare a responsibility, allowing people who earned their money to keep most of it instead of having it be spread around, off-shore drilling, have America come out of Iraq like the Champs.

16

Obama

All reasons listed above

15, female
McCain
because he will strengthen our borders

Obama

16

Someone who worked their way up to a Harvard Law degree is obviously intelligent. Palin is beyond moronic and I wouldn't want her anywhere near the white house. Tax cuts obviously don't help since we are in an economic crisis.

17
obama
he's well educated, cool-headed
I like that he plans to invest in and improve our infrastructure (education, economy, energy, job growth)
He clearly had good judgment, especially in picking a vice president who actually had true qualifications(sorry, i hate to trash palin but i don't think she's any good)
He's running a more ethical campaign with attacks on mccain's policies rather then mccain
he will help out the middle class which is really a good thing too.

15
Go Obama.
He's a people person, understands the crisis most americans suffer with.
Remove guns from gangs, I live in a city with gang problems.
Focus on long term projects such as, health care, american born scientists, engineers, doctors, etc, job growth, and renewable energy resources (nothing nuclear or oil)
Affordable education and cutting taxes for the middle and working class.
I saw three speech/debate by him and he's very articulate; I hope he wins.
