Just wondering because I DESPISE IT WITH A PASSION.

PS. As I was trying to post this, I encountered the rule.
"This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between posts. Please try again in 24 seconds." IRONIC MUCH?

I think I hate the wait between searches more. That is more of an issue. With the posting rule, it is a deterrent for spamming, so it may be good. I really don't run into your problem at all.

You must have a lot to say in a short time.

The thing I totally don't understand is the 30 second wait rule for New Posts. There is no wait rule (except for your mentioning of the posting wait rule) for any other forum. That is the big mystery to me, as it's my most useful forum, after my first check in the morning.

yeah i agree...the posting rule is good but we shouldn't have to wait between searches

I don't really know of ANYONE on CC that would spam, lol. I mean, really, it's a college forum...

Yes, my WPM is about 140-150 (not adjusted for errors, though I don't make many). I'm a very fast typist, and often I type faster than I think LOL. And yes, I do mean TYPE faster than I THINK. I know, it's really ridiculous... but sometimes I find my fingers typing words automatically, even before I have thought of them... it's really odd, I don't know if anyone else encounters this problem.

Edit: Waiting between searches is also really ridiculous. I don't even know what that's supposed to deter - maybe the bandwidth of the site can't handle it if a hoard people are searching simultaneously?

Edit: What's the 30 second rule?

^ spam = posting lots of meaningless stuff like word associations, the "i have a new game" thread, what does the previous poster's name mean, ask a question to the person below you...

True. I sadly participate in some of those :(

But those aren't even counted towards post count!

Edit: Lmao, were you looking at my previous posts?

I hate the 30 second wait time between searches too. eww

Indeed, the rules are whack, yo.

Agreed ^^^^

The wait between post times isn't so much for those dumb "spam" threads but for the fake accounts created by bots that will post ads all over the forum.

The post times I don't mind so much, but waiting between searches...that's a whole other story.

It does get very annoying...esp with the 'word association game' or 'university preference' or other game threads since the basic nature of the game encourages quick replies

The wait between posts also minimizes double posting by accident. Lots of time when CC is slow, I get the error message that I have to wait between posts, and the message posted fine (browser must be automatically retrying).

^ That is true, but you could always delete your second post.

Sigh, I suppose I'm the only one that really hates this feature of CC. I do second the searching 30 seconds thing, however.

Nah, I hate it too.

Since I don't have a tendency to post quality, lengthy posts, an average post of mine usually takes less than 10 seconds to type..

Quality, not quantity.

It takes me at least a minute to find a post worth commenting on, and then composing a meaningful comment.

I think dropping it down to 30 seconds may be ok.

Does anybody else ever get something like this sometimes: "This forum requires you to wait 30 seconds inbetween searches. Please try again in 120 seconds."

^ lolwut? (http://lolwut.eu/images/lolwut.jpg)

CC does have many errors though.
