Who else participated in that VFW Voice of Democracy competition?

After you turned in your essay and recorded speech, were you notified by your local VFW post as to whether your material advanced or not? I'm just curious, for it's been badgering me for the past month since I first submitted my things.

Hey, yeah i competed in it and haven't heard back from my post. I contacted them a week ago and heard that they sent all the materials they received on..so i dont know..hopefully we'll both hear back!

My teacher told us about it the week before the deadline, so no one at our school did it.

Yup, I entered. Haven't heard anything, though...

Yes, I did it for 2 years. Last year I won second in the Taiwan region...this year I don't know yet.

heard back today that i was the post winner!! now on to districts...anyone else hear anything?

They used to force us to do them. Mine always seemed to have an anti-American tint. The teacher would edit them before we sent them off (where is the creativity and truth in that?) and mine would always be full of red marks. The boy who one twice was like, the perfect stereotypical American southern boy (even though we're not in the south). Boy scout, shoots helpless animals on a regular basis, wants to join the army. It made me mad.

How unfortunate! Congratulations, Megan! Do you recommend that I call my post to see the status on my entry?

thanks! yeah, i'd call the post, good luck!
