Who got an iPhone?

Stephen Colbert didn't, and he sounds ****ed.

From what I heard, there's a lot of stuff that the iPhone is lacking despite its being so expensive. Also, I don't know how many people are going to switch to AT&T. I'm not really sure if its really going to revolutionize the cell phone like people say it will.

A lot of the arguments in the Forbes article are flawed.

If you went to Japan or Korea, they'd probably think the iPhone was an antique.

Having lived in both now, I can say that you're mostly off the mark.

In terms of the speed of EDGE, yes, you're right.

In terms of the interface and overall experience, you're very wrong. None of the phones in Asia match the iPhone's overall experience. That, and most phones here in Japan and Korea aren't really smartphones. I spoke with an engineer here at LG, and he said that it's quite a fascinating device, and that despite LG's claims that it copies the Prada, that it's really a new take on the whole smartphone experience.

Seriously, I've owned some of the top-of-the-line phones in Japan. They are not the second coming.

Like I said the iphone doesn't have some functions like bluetooth or gps. It looks cool though because of the touch pad, but I don't think it's the best phone ever in terms of its functions because it's missing a lot, like a flash for it's camera. Also it doesn't have a lot of storage considering that it's supposed to serve as an ipod as well. I don't think it's a good idea until they fix the problems and when the price drops.

What I said on another forum (and I stand by my statement), is that the iPhone is not perfect.

But it's a step in the right direction.

I think it's interesting how people hold Apple products to impossible standards. It may be Apple's fault, but it's still interesting. After all, if LG or Nokia had released this product, people would have GUSHED over it, and said that it's fantastic.

But that's about all they'd say. With Apple, it's a rush to tear it down.

I wouldn't say it's an impossible standard. A lot of inexpensive phones have a flash camera or bluetooth.

The iPhone has Bluetooth. Just not stereo Bluetooth.

The new LG line is amazing. My dad goes to 3GSM every year and brought me back LG's product line. Only thing that could keep me from getting an iPhone.

I'm planning to get one during Macworld 08. I don't have a car yet so I don't really have a need for a phone.

The iPod feature is killer though. Hopefully Apple will come though with a multi-touch 6G iPod in the coming months. They did say that the OS X group is currently working on the iPod.

Here's my hang up with the iPhone. Most of us probably already have an iPod that you pad at least $200 for, many probably paid more. The iPhone has the iPod in it, so you'd have 2 iPods. Who needs 2 iPods? I'm already with Cingular/AT&T, but I'm partial to flip phones, preferably LG, so I'm not hot to get the iPhone anyway.

Honestly, I don't know that the iPhone is really aimed, right now, at everyone. I think it's supposed to be a high-end product for those with a willingness to spend on a very fancy product.

Fine by me, as I'll just wait until it goes down...

and wait...
and wait...

I looked at it and wasn't impressed. I'll stick with my Palm Treo 750.

I sold my iPod years ago after I realized they're a fad. iPods really arent that good. I'm in the process of selling my mp3 player to help finance the iPhone.

iPods are...a fad?

Fads don't revolutionize the way we listen to music. Fads don't sell more years into their existence.

iPods are note Beanie Babies. iPods are here to stay.

From my experience, there's much better. They're a trend for all the teens who know nothing about portable media and just stick with what's best known. I say this of course, despite the fact that I'm getting an iPhone (although I do love the Prada and KE970)

I lost my ipod about 4 moths ago and did not replace it because i was waiting for the iphone...and I am thrilled I waited!

Those of you who think the iphone is going to go down in price, I believe you are wrong.... How much in price have ipods gone down? You are not talking about a "phone " here people..You are talking about the closest we have gotten to something out of Star Trek, Bourne Identity or Mission Impossible... being accessible to the public!

I am a big enthus, a big fan of all things Apple, I was number 2 at the Apple Store ( some bastard got there before I did....) and I can't wait for whatever they will add to this thing in the future !

Well it's a phone, so presumably ATT or whomever will drop the price at some point.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but any more CC members here join the iPhone bandwagon? I just finished setting mine up, and was wondering if there were anymore owners...

Frankly, I think the "JesusPhone" has been hyped up so much for the last few months that it's easy to be disappointed and find faults in the design. Nevertheless, the technology in this thing is amazing. My only gripe with it so far is the size (it definitely feels larger in my pocket that my old RAZR) and the price... $600 for an 8GB capacity is a lot, and there's no way you can fit all your stuff in the 4GB model (and that's $500). As an existing AT&T/Cingular customer, switching over from my old phone was incredibly easy.

for whoever said that the Ipod revolutionized the way we listen to music.....
only to a certain extent. It wasn't the first mp3 player or anything. My dad bought me a Rio for Christmas about 2-3 years before ipods were introduced. But the marketing on it was amazing, so what it really did was just popularize the medium. Ipods are definitely not the best mp3 players out there, but they are one of the easiest to use, sleek-looking, and "cool"
