Hi I was wondering if anybody knows how to pre-study for Chem 3B. I feel like I am okay in 3A material and does anybody have his syllabus from bspace in which it says what material he goes over (amino acids, aromatic rings, etc.). I heard he doesn't go by the book so would going over it during break be a waste?

Leftist has said that having a good foundation from Chem3A is key. I would also like to know if he does or doesn’t go by the book though…

Chem 3A and 3B are really not that bad and curved quite generously. And you don’t really need to know that much stuff from Chem 3A… just SN1, SN2, grignard, and some alkene/alkyne chemistry. Don’t fret too much.

hm…that’s what I’ve been told.

most of the ppl that I ask say that it’s useless to go through the book w/ pedersen for 3B (true for 3A as well) because he usually does his own thing and stays way out of order from the book.

we’ll see…

does he cover stuff that’s not in the book? i remember frechet did that

in general, do you guys like pederson/frechet? any advice about having them as professors?

pedersen’s not too bad, he can go fast in lecture or ramble about unimportant stuff, which is annoying because lecture is the only thing that matters. Other than that, his tests are between fair and slightly unfair and he’s good about explaining what the exams will have.
