You should ABSOLUTELY get the Prep School Hockey Guide. go to athleticguidepublishing.com to order theis year’s edition. It will be around $40 but will turn out to be an invaluable resource.

emma willard from what ive seen/heard has a beautiful campus and since im applying there that is a definite bonus. can anyone say anything on it

Ah, I sent my in inquiry form thing to Lawrenceville last night. I said I do Field Hockey, because I’m going to join my school’s team for spring this schoolyear, but honestly i never played it before. Is that bad?

Rad-in-plaid, I know several families with girls at Emma and I have never heard anything but wonderful things about it. The campus is stunning. It feels like you’re in another world. Rent “The Emperor’s Club” to get an idea, 90% of the movie is shot on campus. It’s an OK movie.

i feel like im doing my app. so late. but I was just wondering if st. pauls and milton accepts repeating sophomores? and how are those schools and groton?

Yes St. Paul’s does. They accept very few Juniors (called 5th Formers). Greatest applicants are freshmen, followed by sophmores. They accept no “PGs”. Depending on your age and academic preparation, they may suggest that you repeat a year. I am biased, but consider SPS the best. I hope alums/students/parents of Groton and Milton feel the same aout their schools.

im from kentucky and i want to apply to choate does it help im from kentucky and asre teir any all girl schools that are good

sorry but whats PG??

PG’s are Seniors who repeat a year. Stands for Post Graduate. Sometimes it is done for good academic reasons but often you see athletes do this. It pads the school’s teams.

I’m from Canada and I’m applying this year as well. I’m applying to Andover, Exeter, Deerfield and Choate in the states and a couple more local ones here in Canada.

Heey, I’m a junior who’s applying to Andover, Thacher, Cate, Choate, Governor’s Academy, Middlesex, Loomis Chaffe, the Hill school, and Hotchkiss. Is anyone applying to these as well?

I have a question. How common is repeating sophmore year just to get into the boarding school of your choise? And does it increase your chances of getting in?

What is an inquiry package???!!

I’ve heard Emma Williard & Miss Porter’s are great all girl’s schools.

The way I understand it, people from Kentucky have a slight edge over people from, say, Massachusetts. Don’t count on it, though.

A lot of people repeat grades. I’m applying for repeat sophomore too. :)

An inquiry package has basic information about the school. It includes their viewbook & usually their course of study. To get an inquiry package, go to the school’s website and fill in an inquiry request.

@ Josh: It’s actually surprisingly common for people to repeat, if you did, you wouldn’t be alone (in fact, you wouldn’t even be near alone, lol)

I’d say it would increase your chance of getting in. Sophomore acceptance % as opposed to junior acceptance %… huge difference. of course, if you’re amazing at life/have a hook, you definitely have a chance at getting in either way.

note: TomTheCat got in Andover as a junior.

is anyone repeating sophomore for st. paul’s??

DiveAlive —> I’m not sure if I want to repeat sophmore year though, but I really want to get into Andover or at least Middlesex. Here’s my chance thread, if you could please chance me –> http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-chances/776559-chance-me-im-junior-living-honduras-who-wants-go-andover-choate.html

dlkrlehowl - I AM! :)

How far are you guys in the application process?

Ummm…I’m actually almost done with my Hill School application. But, most applications haven’t been released yet, like the Middlesex and Andover application. As for the rest of my apps, Im already in the student questionnaires/essays.

Wow, I didn’t even get an inquiry package yet.
Is it bad to send the school everything at, let’s say a week before deadline? Also when’s everyone taking their SSATs?

I am taking mine in November. I hope that’s a good time.
