Who is choosing UCLA over UCB?

Why not? Besides the $60, what do you have to lose?

torrance, it's a challenge. it's like when someone applies to an ivy-it's for the thrill. berkeley is my reach anyway, so there are no hard feelings if i don't get in. i got into UCLA which is one of my targets, so i'm more than happy.

ksbr27- say that you get accepted and those who got rejected might want to go Cal really bad! you are taking their spots!!!

EXACTLY LoS-why NOT apply to berkeley and see what happens?

torrance, i don't even plan on getting ACCEPTED. if i get accepted, it's icing on the cake. a lot of people apply to berkeley and don't plan on going.

ksbr27- your STATS please..

3.45
French
IGETC/prereqs met, fall 2007
NOT TAP certified.
lots of ECs/work experience
essays i think were really good in that i really showed who i was and what my life is all about.
applied to UCLA, USC, UCSB, UC Berkeley.
admitted UCLA, UCSB (awaiting UCB and USC)

oh french... i think you might get in because it's not that competitve at all...

honestly, berkeley is just icing on the cake if i get in. it'd be nice to get in but honestly, it's not life and death for me.

"but I know that Berkeley would provide me a better edcuation"

The education I get at either school would be great. I am not really sure how you know for a fact that a UCB education would be better. What are they going to teach you that UCLA will not just out of curiousity? Other than a ranking system that newsweek or whatever has what is the difference between the schools?

P.S. I have been up to UCB and I have known a lot of people that went there. The school is good but I haven't seen any evidence that I would get a better education from them versus LA.

Faculty, I suppose

Edit: btw, who quoted that?

The quote is from Torrance.

I know the Cal decisions aren't out yet, but which one are you guys planning on going (if accepted?)

I'm picking UCLA because I've heard nasty experiences for science majors at Cal. Especially about the fierce competition and backstabbing, not to mention classes there are a gpa killer.

Backstabbing? Really? In the (close to) one year I've been at Cal I've never once had to worry about someone sabotaging me.

I guess you could say the competition is fierce. You have to work your ass off if you want A's but B's are easily attainable. My only real complaint about my classes is that they are too big and it's difficult to get to know your professors.

Well, I got into UCLA as a Linguistics major I'm still waiting for CAL. I live in Oakland, CA but I still want to go to UCLA. I go to Berkeley all the time since I live nearby. UCB just seems boring to me and the people aren't really friendly. I feel like I wouldn't fit in. Even all my friends are surprised I even got into UCLA because they say I look like I don't even go to school. Lol I get that a lot. I rather go to UCLA!

I will pick UCLA over Berkeley if I do not get into Berk.

no duh!(10char)

What the hell does 10 char mean? Am I just an idiot?

10char is a Pokemon character

Lol.

(10 Char) I finally use it.

So i herd u liek mudkip
