who is definitely going to UR? and reason?

or mostly..

sorry.. I mean most likely!

I am, absolutely.

i think we have a list in another forum.
Me, Becca, Bhargav, "soreadyforthis"
reason? i did EDII lol

My names Krista, sorry about that.

And I forgot to add the reason.. well, of course there are lotsss, but I suppose it just seemed like a great place to be.

ok...correction...
Me, becca, bhargav, krista ---the acceptees list is on the UR Class of 2010 thread (last page posted by me) -- check the individual posts to see who's actually coming...

I have read quite a lot of forums, but only UR impresses me somehow. All of you seem very friendly and nice, unlike other prestigious schools. And, I don't wanna spend my four years with all the arrogant kids despite a higher national reputation. With that being said, UR seems my top choice now. =)

im going too. yay for me!

hey smartkid are u the one who had the post about the best pre med? Well IMO i really feel Rochester will give you the best pre med education compared to cornell and dont even consider bingmington . Some of the stuff specific to ROch regarding pre med between , are

UR does sound very good in every aspect except their low yield and high acceptance rate. =/

Do u guys think those stats will have changes this year?

As far as I know, they haven't yet released anything out the admit rate of this year, and I reli need it to make my final decision.

might change...u never know. well it's basically as someone said before, that UR is used as a safety school and then never end up going, they would have to accept more to fill up their class. but the quality of education is still very good as u can see. well considering the great increase in applicants this year, it could mean more applied to the ivies and therefore didn't make it and might end up choosing UR. who knows...

I have a question about the premed program...is it the same as the regular college program in terms of everything else you do or do you have to apply for something else (ie REMS)? I really don't know whether I'd like to go to medical school but it does interest me, especially recently...but I haven't done any research about premed at all because I really didn't think I'd end up considering it. Is it weird that I'm just changing my mind now, sort of?? Am I stuck outside of the premed program already or do I have time to choose/try?

Of course, I might end up studying something completely different but I want to know whether I have the option....

I think they're the same, but REMS can guarantee you going to medical school, and provide you more assistance. I am not sure though!

To be honest, before getting the admission from UR, I've never thought of doing something about medicine in college nor did I do any research about it. But right now I am taking AP Chem and Bio, getting decent grades, so I think it should be okay!

Hey everyone, my name's Stephen and I'm definitely URochester Class of 2010 =)

Reason: Great financial package, great school, great people.

Rochester's one of the few undergrad colleges that I know of w/ a undergrad neuroscience program.
Rochester boasts having the feeling of a Liberal Arts College while having the benefits of a research university.

Low Yield Rates and High Acceptance Rates kinda scary but it doesnt make it any less selective - i know plenty of ppl who were rejected.

Retention Rate @ Rochester (People who enter as Freshman and stay - dont transfer) : 95%
Graduation Rate @ Rochester : 80.5%

Those are ivy-like numbers there =P I got them after requesting for their Common Data Set (available upon request from the Institutional Research Department). Lookin foward to seeing u guys there!

those are some interesting stats awakien, thanks for posting them. I ll bein the Class of 2010 hope to see u in the fall

yeah, looks like im going.. no jhu for me, and i didn't get enough money from CMU..

unless my parents can guilt me into penn. but i will resist!

sorry to hear about ur JHU decision chemaddict - and yah UofR does give alot more money- congrats anyway on your acceptance to CMU though =P

I still have my misgivings about Rochester but I think we can make the best of it, right guys? Ive been readign stuff @ studentreviews.com and so far it looks like everyone can agree that the academics there are stellar and the people there are curiously intelligent yet modest and friendly. Weather sucks and sports r mostly Division 3 but social life is very much alive so long as you look for it.
