Who is going to Santa Barbara, mostly for sure? Tell a little about yourself!

Hey everyone, I'm just a little curious on who is going to attend Santa Barbara for sure. Not many people at my school are going to attend Santa Barbara, most of them are off at the other UCs... so of course I kind of feel nervous for being one of the only people at my school who will be attending SB. So, I'd like to know a bit about other people on these forums who are also going to SB!

Age, race, personality, hobbies, habits, quirks, etc. Why did you pick SB, your major choice, etc... Anything you want to tell about yourself! I think it might be fun to get to know each other better anyway...

I'm 16, 5'9", avg asian haha. I played varsity tennis for two years in HS, so I really like tennis. Pretty athletic, I'm pretty social, I like to make friends rather than stay isolated in a group.. I love video games (haha) and hanging out with friends. Not a huge fan of mainstream music, mostly into things like Jpop (nerdy here), techno, trance, etc. Oh yeah I play ddr. DDR is awesome :D

I picked Santa Barbara because I was rejected everywhere else besides Riverside (so sad..), and I'm in the pre-compsci. major... I live in So. Cal, so I'm not too far away. The campus looks really nice, I'm sure I won't get bored here haha. I still gotta see the campus though, so I'm going to that April 4. Spring Insight thingy (Is anyone else going?!). I have plans to transfer out of SB into LA or SD (but perhaps I'll like SB enough to stay, like I said I still know nothing about the campus).

Oh, and I don't think I'm going to be really into the whole party scene here. Just something I'm not that into.

Well that's me in a nutshell, how about everyone else?

I'm actually from a town about 20 mins away from SB (and I go to HS in SB) so I know my way around pretty well. My older brother also went to UCSB (like 10 years ago). I'm still waiting for Stanford (but I doubt I'll get in) so I'm almost 100% sure I'll be a Gaucho next year. =)

I had to stay in CA for college (I need the beach and great weather). UCSB has a good Computer Science program (my major) and you can get out of there with a masters in 5 years.

I'm considering playing volleyball intermurals (spelling?)..I played on my HS team and club team and I want to stay active next year. (I have a chronic shoulder injury though so I'm still undecided on that).

Me? Party? HAH. you're funny.
So yeah, no party scene for me. =P
I'm sure I'll go to IV a few times though to watch everyone else make a fool out of themselves. =)

I'm white (boring) & I have red hair (not boring!). And I'll be a female in the school of engineering so I'm stoked about that.

My favorite class is AP Calculus BC.
And I'm taking classes at SBCC right now (and have been since last summer).

Hello. I'm most likely going to attend UCSB. I'm 17 about 5'1" and I'm also asian, but I don't do the whole "korean dramas, jpop music, kind of thing." :P I live almost 6 hours away from SB, I know that's far away from home, but I've always wanted to go to school down south! I think the reason why I'm so drawn to SB is the fact that the beach is literally on the other side of the street, plus the weather is nice. :) I've pretty much never been to a "crazy" party before. Never drank or smoked, don't plan to smoke for the rest of my life. I'd probably be involved in the party scene once in awhile, definitely not every night/weekend. I might transfer somewhere else, but don't know where yet unless I too love it too much to leave. I love all kinds of music: alternative, pop, country, hip-hop, r&b, etc.

And yeah, that's the gist of who I am.

well i'm also asian. 5'8". I play alot of sports but mostly basketball, soccer, and right now I'm playing tennis. Im new to it and still improving. I'm very excited to live by the beach. Im from the midwest and have always wanted to live by the coast. I think i might be involved in partying every once in a while, but not too much. im a philosophy major. I will be going to the spring insight as well with my family. It will be my first time on campus. I cant wait to see it.

First time? Wow. You'll love it!!!

im pretty sure im going to ucsb, my other option is ucsc. im going to go to both over spring break so i hav to decide after that

so far ive played varsity basketball, track and tennis but idk how i will hav time for too many sports in college (im in the prebio prgrm)

its funny tho, i love to party but im gonna be a science major...and i want to do sports, idk wat that makes me?

any ideas for dorms??????????

is santa barbara a private school??

That would be a negative to your question 92akire92

It is a public university.

^^ Santa Barbara is not a private school.

I am going to attend UC Santa Barbara next year (:
It was my first choice UC. Although I have been wanthing to go to NYU since freshman year, my plans changed when my half-sister was born. So I am going to stay in California for a few more years to be near her and watch her grow up. (x
I chose UC Santa Barbara over the other UCs because of the beach and the view.

I am an asian female whose major is chemical engineering.
I am not into the party scene either.
I have played volleyball for three years now, and I am thinking about playing at Santa Barbara but we will see.
I am in KEY Club (community service club) and we have a convention the week of Spring Insight. ):

wow haha alota asians

That's one of the best reason's I've ever heard for a person picking their college. Wow haha.

haha (x
UC Santa Barbara is also the perfect distance away from home.

if you're really into the party scene, i'd try for santa catalina aka ft aka **** towers..lol

we get to pick which residence halls? I like how santa catalina has bathrooms in their rooms but i just dont like how its far from the main campus. what do you guys think?

Hi, I’m 17, 5’11 (almost 6) durno if I’m an average asian or not…. I guess it depends on where you live. I like playing almost any sport except football because I’m afraid of getting hit XD. I’m also going to the social on April 4th (hahaha to Alphacdjkr). It will be my first time seeing Santa Barbra so I hope it’ll be really nice ^^”. I’m a very social but not too much into the party scene like the others because most of the time it gets a little too stupid/crazy for my taste. I usually spend my time tutoring math at school or outside of school to underprivileged kids since I live in a low income community. Helps me feel good about myself and that I am contributing back to my community. Thus I’m becoming a math major so I can teach.

I actually have no idea what Santa Barbra is all about so I was wondering if someone could inform me of what is there and etc. Thanks for the help! =D

I'm in the same rut as shabamm! I like that Santa Catalina has about 4 people per bathroom, but I don't really like that it's far away from the campus.

aha i have no idea how im going to chose the residence halls right now. the information provided is so scarce.

Silly Matthew :D

hi, I am 18 , 5'7, indian
I like playing basketball, football, and pingpong (lmao), I might go to admit day on April 4th. I am a social person but not the party type. I usually spend my time playing basketball at my neighborhood bball courts. I enjoy volunteering at my local public library. I have never been to Santa Barbara, Hope its nice. i am an chemE major

Hey whats up...I am 18, 6'2, 180 pounds (athletic) and white

I am 90% going to UCSB to play baseball unless I get into Columbia, Harvard, or Stanford which is unlikely.

I like to party but I can buckle down and get things done when I need to. UCSB will be a good fit for me because I like the beach atmosphere, and it seems like a perfect balance of fun and academics. Plus, UCSB has a great baseball team so that should be pretty awesome.

Let's see...

-I like to golf - there are some good courses in the SB area so I am excited for that. I am an 8 handicap.

I like the ocean. I have been surfing a few times but I am not very good. I want to learn to surf while I am there.

I like music, mostly alt/indie stuff. I play guitar and sing. It would be cool to start a band.

Also I am a big poker player. I would be interested in getting guys together for poker every week or so. I also like betting on sports, board games, basically everything.

Does anyone else like any of these things?

Also if you are a good looking female reading this - PM me and we can meet up and get down sometime.
