I’m sure she has decided by now. The deadline is midnight, which is about 16 minutes from now.

lol

I’m sure she has decided by now. The deadline is midnight, which is about 16 minutes from now.

OK, @AnthroFlo, the deadline is here.

UCLA or Berkeley?

@Cayton

I’m sure AnthroFlo chose Berkeley.

I’m hoping that @AnthroFlo picked Cal because that’s where his heart was telling him to go.

@AnthroFlo still has 24 hours to decide.

@ocnative

Well, I can’t persuade everyone to go to UCLA. :(

But I’ve done my part to convince some Berkeley admits to join the Bruin family. :D

I totally freaked out when I saw the post that @Cayton made about SIRing so I literally ran to SIR to both, then I saw I still have time left because it isn’t due until much much later today…

So, can anyone tell me how to retract an SIR? lol.

Though I will say one thing, when I saw that post and I had to run to SIR to one school the first one I ran to, much to my surprise, was UCLA. Money is a powerful motivator.

The journey continues!
But in all seriousness, I’ll figure it out by the end of today, I promise ;)

@AnthroFlo

Sorry I made you freak out, lol

So, you ran to UCLA’s website first, hmm?

I wonder what that means…

@AnthroFlo did you accidentally submit a SIR?

@Cayton
It means that money is too much of a factor in my future education.
In all seriousness though, UCLA is an awesome school, it really is, but I am truly struggling with all of the awesome things (proximity to home, the courses, the professors, the nature, libraries!) I’ll be giving up to go to LA; granted, going to LA would mean free-ride.

@CollegeDropout1
I don’t know if you would call it an accident. I submitted to both UCLA and Cal, which is not something I wanted to resort to. I thought I had run out of time so I scrambled.

@AnthroFlo

A free ride? In this day and age, you can’t consider the money factor too much. UCLA all the way.

@Cayton
You see, I get very different points of view with the money factor.
Some people tell me I would be an idiot to turn down a full-ride (?) at UCLA because undergrad doesn’t matter too much anyway and debt isn’t something I want to put myself in.

I also get the people who tell me that money shouldn’t matter because it is my education and I should do what is best for my educational/personal needs.

I feel pretty torn about it all, go figure
I swear I’m not normally this flighty guys, seriously.
I’m usually much more “direct” in my path.

Your connections with the faculty at Berkeley may prove beneficial when you’re applying to graduate schools.

@calbro

Eh, UCLA faculty are nothing to scoff at. Honestly, chances of getting into graduate school depend more on other factors since UCLA and Berkeley are nearly identical in terms of prestige. For @AnthroFlo, a letter of recommendation from Jared Diamond, famous anthropologist and Author of “Guns, Germs, and Steel” would be just as valuable as any letter from any Berkeley anthropology professor.

@AnthroFlo

Unless you’ve determined that the Berkeley educational experience would be significantly better, I’d advise you to take UCLA’s full ride over Cal.

@Cayton The reason I was talking about connections with faculty is because @AnthroFlo isn’t particularly fond of the Environmental Anthropology research that UCLA is doing. It can’t hurt that the Chancellor is an anthropologist.

@calbro

Ah, I get your point.

Hmm, another point for Berkeley.

I heard UCB doesn’t really like to accept its undergraduate students to its graduate programs. That is something that should also be considered. Also, student debt can be very stressful, especially with an anthropology degree. The chances of finding a job with an anthropology are not very good, and if you are lucky enough to find one, they usually don’t pay much. @AnthoFlo , if you have a full ride to a university,then I would HIGHLY recommend picking it. It will make your life so much easier. You won’t have to deal with student loans, which is a very good thing, especially with your major. I think you also said that you wanted to go to graduate school, which doesn’t come cheap. You’re going to be in a world of hurt if you have loans from both a bachlor’s and master’s degree.

@anthroflo are you nonameflo on reddit lol?

It’s definitely her.
