Who is waiting for Johnson scholarship finalist notification?

Did anyone get a letter/email yet?? It's the end of January . Anxiously waiting . . .

Same here!

Still have not gotten anything…T.T

In Chicago area, not in today’s mail.

Does anyone know if they notify both those who will be competing and those who did not qualify, or just those who made the cut?

In South Carolina over here…still waiting!

Should hear soon from W&L. I checked my GHQ app status and there is no info other than “Awaiting Final High School Transcript” status was added. It was not there last month. Did any of you have this status notice added to your GHQ?

I’ve always had the status on mine. I don’t think it means anything. Also, @wluadmissions said on twitter earlier today that Johnson scholarship decisions “will be on their way shortly”, so they should be sending them soon. And I think they notify everyone according to what I’ve seen on past message boards. So I think we find out one way or the other.

This may sound silly but the school does notify not only if you are a finalist but also if you are accepted to the school cause why wouldn’t they? two birds with one stone right?

No, they don’t. They wait til late April for the admissions decision. That being said, if you are named as a finalist for the Johnson, you can pretty much bet that you’ll be admitted.

Still waiting in Raleigh!

No word yet in South Carolina. However I found on their website a page for finalist and steps on what to do after acceptance. Looks as if news will be arriving any day.

When my D received her semifinalist notification, it said something along the lines of “if you behave yourself during the competition, you’ll receive an offer of admission” ;)

Nothing in WV. I think they’ll update the twitter page as they have in years past when they send them out, though…

Yaupon - D went to competition and is now tour guide. If you misbehave, they will put you on a plane (or whatever) home. So to those lucky applicants who get invited…act as though you are being interviewed the entire time…

I should clarify my previous post lest current applicants think my D received her letter this year and start stalking their letter carriers – D is a current Johnson Scholar, so it’s been a few years since she received the letter to which I referred.

Agree with scmom12’s post.

I just asked an admissions counselor at W&L, and she said that they mailed the decisions yesterday!

Did they mention if they sent them by USPS or FedEx?

She didn’t, but I’d bet FedEx bc it’s cheaper.

Sorry, I meant USPS bc it’s cheaper, lol. Can you tell I’m nervous?
