Can you tell me/email me what your essay was like?? UChicago is my dream school and I’m super nervous about the essay because I know they’re hardcore! and I’m a junior right now so I need to mentally prepare myself (:
my email is pikchuresofyou@aim.con

I AM COMING!!! I am so excited. I knew from the time I did an overnight that it was where I wanted to be, and thank goodness I did not have to make a difficult choice at all. This is the place for me. And all of you! Yay!

This isn’t really relevant anymore for the Class of 2015, but I want it to go on the record for future applicants that the English department is AWESOME. Truly. The graduate department is ranked in the top 5 nationally, and the College has the same faculty as the grad school. Yes, the department is generally more focused on literary criticism than creative writing, but there are tons of opportunities for creative writers even though there is no official major. Every year (pretty much weekly), lots of famous (and some not-yet-famous) writers come to campus to do readings or conduct a workshop. Joyce Carol Oates is visiting this week or next week, I believe.

All of my professors know me by name and have provided extensive if not line-by-line feedback on my papers. I have grown SO MUCH as a writer here. Plus: ever heard of the Chicago School of Literary Criticism?
