you get to throw various mazda cars around a few autocross courses for a day. cars include mazdaspeed6, RX-8, MX-5 miata, CX-7, mazda3 (4 and 5 door), mazda5, and mazda6. both kinds of transmissions available for most models. lines were a bit long last year, but hey....its not everyday that you can flog someone else's cars around some cones legally and for FREE! and last year everyone who went got a free t-shirt and a year's subscription to autoweek. i only got to drive the miata and 3 last year cuz i went too late, but it was still a lot of fun!

i REALLY REALLY want to go this.....but its in Fontana (a bit north of Riverside) and i have no way of getting there. so yeah, if anyone is gonna go pleaaaase take me too! i'll pay for gas money! CC roadtrip, anybody? :D or if anyone wants to let me borrow their car that would be great too (nikkei ;)).

forgot to mention...you only have to be 18+ with a license to drive the cars!! most ride & drive events from other companies require you to be 21+ or even 25+!

(yes, i know what time it is. i'm taking a study break, OK? )

Awesome.
I was going to do that with a friend a few years ago.
I want to drive an RX-8, but I can barely handle a MT.

EDIT
LMAO! I just read how you hinted to borrow my car.
ARGHHHH!!! I'm going to leave you and tell you all about my fun adventures when I come back
J/K of course.

and dont worry about the MT. its not your car. nor anyone's you know. clutch in, add a little gas, drop the clutch, off you go! (probably with a small bit of burnt rubber too ;)) they pretty much expect you to abuse the cars anways.

Come to think of it, didn't they only have MTs in the RX-8 and maybe the Miata a few years ago? Did they change it? I thought I read on the website that the rest of the line-up were equipped with ATs.

i dont really remember. i know the 3 i drove was AT (i remember trying to break the tires loose at launch by brake torquing). i'm pretty sure the RX-8, Miata and Speed6 will have MT's this year since those are like the core "sporty" models.

i dont think there will be many, and those who try will likely get kicked out. the track is too short and to tight to do any sliding without hitting anything. if you spin out the car or do a burnout or something, they're gonna kick you out.

and yeah, its at california motor speedway.

There's this absolutely OBNOXIOUS otaku that lived on my girlfriend's floor in Hedrick last year.

She thought it was cool to say random Japanese crap in the middle of sentences. I wanted to meet her and tell her off in Japanese since she didn't really speak it.
