<p>Regional counselors do the first read and the most thorough evaluation. WealthOfInformation is not accurate in the statement that “it is read multiple times by multiple readers.” After the first read of an application, it moves into committee review where it will pass through at minimum one committee evaluation and most likely multiple committee reviews. <p>AdmissionsDaniel, I am just curious. Would some of the first reads be done by part-timers, like student readers, who are not directors as introduced in the forum? Would the first read already determine “prospects” and “denials”, and only prospects go to committees? Typcially how big is a committee and how much time on average would a committee spent on discusssing a prospect? I’d assume during RD the process would be much faster given there’re close to 20,000 files.</p>

All Early Decision applications are reviewed by full-time Admissions counseling staff members. Since the Regular Decision applicant pool is significantly large, we do hire part-time admissions readers to assist with the first read evaluation. Part-time readers are not students, but rather former admissions or educational professionals with experience in reading applications and/or higher education. </p>

All files go to committee. The first reader makes a tentative first decision, but all applications will be reviewed in committee where final decisions are rendered. </p>

It varies greatly. Some committees consist of the entire Admissions counseling staff, while other committees may be 3-4 members of the Admissions counseling staff. The time spent of reviewing application will vary greatly as well.</p>
