YES!!! lol, Oregon was amazing yesterday. That was one fun game. I remember when we scored like 3 TDs in a row in the first quarter and I was like, soo.... this is the great Arizona State defense huh? They did step it up but.... OREGON = NATIONAL CHAMPIONS....nice to see cal win again huh?

I agree, give Riley another chance. Because of his mobility, he should play better against SC defense. Also, he will gain valuable playing time experience. I think, given the way Longshore is playing, he should be benched.

USC benched Booty for 3 games bc he was injured. It's irresponsible of Tedford to not do the same (for at least one game) with Longshore. Oregon will have to be very impressive in these next few weeks for them to make it to the NCG though. LSU will get there ahead of them unless UO wins big, or if OSU loses (which isn't too likely given the way they're playing).

I think Ohio State can lose to Michigan............

Tedford is a stubborn guy. Why does he ALWAYS run the option inside the five, with the usual negative result? And, last night, he tries it with a qb who can barely walk. Suprise? No. Stupid? Yes.

If Brink did not look like a Freshman for three quarters (missing wide open guys), Cal would've lost big.

I'm going to put my head on the chopping block for this one...

I think Longshore is pretty much finished. Unless he heals up REAL quick, which would be nothing short of a miracle, one more good hit and his football career is -over-. Now, I respect and love him for everything he has done for our team, but Tedford is being flat out foolish at this point. He's grudging against Riley for the faux pas during OSU and he needs to get over it. He invests way too many resources in players that are either injured or just flat out mediocre. Even if USC whoops us, and we play Riley, he's still going to gain valuable experience that'll pay off in dividends in the coming seasons. Of course, I'll have naysayers who think winning is more important, but like a good game of chess, or even fighting wars, you have to make sacrifices, lose pieces, and take hits that are often painful, but then lead to much greater victories and opportunities down the road. The problem is, I think a lot of fans don't realize that defeat is not always fatal and that victory is never final. Yea, you can be victorious constantly with an extremely experienced player or players but what happens to your line when that quarterback or tail back or reciever gets hurt and cannot play? you might have phenomenal talent elsewhere but it is underdeveloped and not ready to play. Some of these games that we were up significantly earlier in the season were prime opportunities to develop players like Riley and other players that were sitting on the bench. Reasonably low risk, good opportunities to expand our roster, basically, yet we squandered them to play it safe. The problem is, that Tedford has been way too conservative and sitting on his laurels way too much. We need to start developing some of these younger players, our we're gonna head into another Holmoecaust. Okay, maybe not that bad, but you get my point. Oh yea, and mix up the plays a little more. The other teams have gotten wise and I'm tired of watching the same football game I've seen counts how many seasons he's been at Cal or an alum... ....oh, about 60 times by now.

great post. for the most part, i completely agree. don't know if Tedford has a "grudge" against riley, but he def. needs to give other players a shot.

All the Berkeley posters here seem to be in agreement that Riley needs to be given a chance.

Longshore perhaps should start against 'SC, but at the first INT or overthrown receiver due to Longshore's inability to step into a pass, he should be pulled in favor of Riley.

UCLA was able to pull it close against 'Zona with mobile sophomore QB Ossar Rasshan...Rasshan breathed life into the offense...Cal needs to do the same.

Yes, Go Oregon!! Cal can then claim we beat the National Champs, a high water mark for our season.

Tedford already said he doesnt blame Riley for what happened.

^ Yes, but his reaction to the incident and his actions after speak otherwise.

hey, we are #24 in the AP rankings. Wow, the AP must really like us, because we don't deserve to be in the rankings after how we played last night.
I definitely agree that Longshore needs to be pulled. Kevin Riley is the future quarterback for this team for years to come, and the more he is on the field the better he will become. No offense to Longshore, but he is just too mediocre.
A team needs to have a stellar defense or a stellar quarterback to go all the way. Since we don't have a stellar defense, we need to start developing Riley RIGHT NOW so that we can reach the Rose next year.

^ We're #25 in the Harris poll...a poll that actually counts for the BCS.

None of the east coast voters saw the game, it was way too late for them. They looked at the final score.

One thing going for Cal though, is we beat #3 Oregon and #24 Tennessee.

lol, yea..after Oregon wins it all...you'll be the only team in the nation to beat the national champions...although by only 1.5 inches...

and DIXON FOR HEISMAN!!!!

any of you follow NFL?

ok, sheed, you are getting a little annoying lol. we all know you love oregon, as do a few of us, but it's getting to be obsessive. here's a thought: why don't you go start posting on the oregon thread! i'm sure they'd love to have ya!

btw, oregon didn't lose by a YARD, they were a yard away from OT. two totally different things. give credit where credit is due, cal out-played them that game.

blue: i do!!!

hey vc08, i totally agree with you on sheed. I was about to post something of that effect that but decided against it. Seriously, get a life sheed and go back to your school's thread.

vc, what did you think of that Pats vs Colts game? That was intense, I think Tom Brady deserves to be MVP this season(I might be biased though because Brady is alumnus of my high school). I seriously think Pats might go undefeated this season.

Lol, yea, i get it..but this is the only "real" college football thread on this site, which is why i only post here.

vc08, you yourself made the thread, and chose to call it "who said the Pac-10 is a weak conference?" I didn't call it that, you did. Therefore, I'm talking about how the Pac-10 isn't a weak conference. you could have called it, "who said Cal is a weak team?" or something like that, but you chose to talk about the whole Pac-10, so there really is no base for going back to "my own school's thread, since my school is part of this thread."

But anyways, I'll stop being an annoying **** and just talk in general......

Haha...yeah, vc08, let sheed gloat a little...it doesn't bother me.

I watched the game myself. The Patriots dug in their heels and let Tom Brady work his magic. Out of curiosity, and since I'm too lazy to look it up myself, where did Brady play his college ball?

He played at Michigan...and check out his stats 9 games into the season..

33 TDS
4 Interceptions....

At this rate he'll get like 60 and 6....OMFG....
