Who should I ask for a letter of recommendation?

I have a humanities teacher I’m going to ask for a letter of rec, but I’m having trouble with the math/science letter. I haven’t taken a math or science class at my high school since 10th grade. After that I took them at my state university. The classes I took there were all huge lectures and the TAs were very hard to understand because of the language barrier (they were all from China). I made the big mistake of not going to my professor’s office hours (very stupid, I know). I just figured everything I didn’t know out from the book. I got As in the classes, but I never talked to my teachers, so I can’t ask them for a letter of rec.
I want to ask my AP calc teacher from 10th grade, but I’m worried that I took that class too long ago to do that. I did really well in that class and the teacher likes me, but I’m worried that colleges won’t like to see me using a teacher I had two years ago.
Any thoughts?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I haven’t had much contact with this person recently, aside from saying hi in the hallway. This makes everything more difficult…

I think your only option is to ask your AP Calc teacher. Explain your situation (how you’re having trouble getting a math/science recommendation), and convey how you’d be grateful if they could write a recommendation in your support. Also, provide him/her with a sheet of paper outlining your achievements, extracurriculars, and other relevant information so that the teacher can easily find things to write about.

I’d talk to your HS guidance counselor and ask for his/her suggestion but it sounds like the 10th grade teacher is the best option. The admissions officer will see that you took math/science at the college so you should be fine.

Thank you guys!
