I'm really confused about this "peer evaluation" thing. I want my boss at work to write it, but I have a feeling I should be having one of my friends do it. Is it OK that my boss writes this rather than someone more my own age? Thanks!

Do you truly consider your boss to be your peer? He’s obviously not on the same level as you are at work. It sounds like he’s also not your peer in age. Dartmouth wants to know what your actual peers think of you.

If you want to send a rec from your boss, who, in all likelihood, is not really your peer, then send an additional rec. But don’t not show Dartmouth what they want to see.

Exactly. If you have a good, long-term relationship with your boss, ask him or her to write a rec for you.

For the peer rec, pick a peer.

I was going to ask my best friend to do it. She already said she would and I think she can truly capture who I am as we spend almost every day together.

alrite thanks everyone

D had her sister who is 5 years older write her peer rec. The trouble with asking one of your classmates to write you one is that he or she is probably pretty busy at this time of the year.

One son had his long time friend (and “competitor”) and the other son had his older brother (a Dartmouth student) write their recommendations-both were accepted. I’d pick someone who writes well, knows you, likes you, and can give good examples.
