Who thinks they are actually going?

Hey guys! Congrats on hearing back from a college. I don't know about you, but this was my first response from a college and my first acceptance.

I have seen so many people post here with amazing stats. I was wondering how many of you are actually thinking about attending next year. Personally, although I applied to several ivies, the fit there isn't that great. I figure I would rather have a good experience at a school in the top 15 than be miserable at a school in the top five. After all, such a small difference in the rankings doesn't make that big of a difference in the long run. Plus, it seems that Wash U is on the way up!

If you are considering accepting Wash U's offer, I have a bunch of questions for you. I am super curious about the people that I might be going to school with next year

• Where else did you apply?
• To which of Wash U's schools did you apply?
• Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
• Could you include stats if you feel comfortable doing so? Just keep it simple: SAT/ACT, GPA, major awards and AP/IB scores.

As for those waitlisted, I understand that many are upset. Is this because Wash U was your first choice or because of some other reason? If the latter, please elaborate.

• Where else did you apply?
Buncha Ivies and private research schools.

• To which of Wash U’s schools did you apply?
Engineering!

• Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
<3’d the pictures of the campus and the TempurPedic matresses. Oh, and the awesome academics as well, but mostly the first two ;)

• Could you include stats if you feel comfortable doing so? Just keep it simple: SAT/ACT, GPA, major awards and AP/IB scores.
35.25 ACT
3.97 unweighted
AcaDeca! Science! State stuff
5 fives

• Where else did you apply?
Tulane, Northwestern, Tufts, Yale, Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, Penn, Wesleyan, Brandeis, Williams, Middlebury

• To which of Wash U’s schools did you apply?
Arts and Sciences

• Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
Honestly… mainly the fact that it had no supplement :stuck_out_tongue: I’m thinking of attending because it has amazing facilities, great academics, and a less competitive atmosphere although still academically challenging than most of the other top schools i applied to

• Could you include stats if you feel comfortable doing so? Just keep it simple: SAT/ACT, GPA, major awards and AP/IB scores.
34 ACT, 98.6/100 (top 20/350ish), siemens semi, 55544

I’m still not sure if I’m going to go, but I have a friend who is there right now and she’s definitely convinced me of the school’s awesomeness  I’ll see where else I get accepted I guess but I’m really starting to love WashU

• Where else did you apply?
Majority of the Ivies

• To which of Wash U’s schools did you apply?
Arts and Sciences, though if I do end up here I might switch to Olin eventually (easy transfer process for the win!).

• Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
I was blown away on my campus visit. Hands down, prettiest campus of the ten schools I have seen. I got this vibe that the school has a really friendly community. It also felt like WUSTL actually cares about the students as seen in the various support systems. At some other schools it seemed like students were on their own from day one (which has its own merits, but a bit harsh). Lastly, I always read about the great quality of life at WUSTL, and between the living arrangement (new dorms), the dining, and the Delmar Loop, I can definitely see why.

• Could you include stats if you feel comfortable doing so? Just keep it simple
I don’t want too include too much, but 35 ACT, high rank, nothing major in the awards section.

•I’m still waiting on several of the Ivies. In all honesty, there are quite a few I would attend if accepted. With that said, they are reaches of course, and if I do not hear back good news on March 30 I will be very excited to attend WUSTL. It is a terrific school all around.

• Where else did you apply?
Yale (Deferred SCEA), MIT, UPenn, Cornell, Harvard, (not including safeties on this list)

I would describe my college list as this: I have a top 4 bundle of schools made up of WUSTL, Yale, MIT, and Penn. Now that I can check WUSTL off it takes a lot of the pressure off, and hopefully I’ll have a difficult decision to make once the other three schools release results.

• To which of Wash U’s schools did you apply?
College of Arts and Sciences

• Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
Pretty much what everyone above me said. Beautiful campus, ideal suburban campus still close to a city, amazingly nice kids and non-competitive environment (something much harder to find when looking at Top 5 schools as someone else said), beautiful dorms, outstanding academics and research opportunities, outstanding reputation in science, business, or anything I may want to delve into, etc.

Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
I applied because it’s one of the few top universities with decent design programs–yes, design, not just art. I want to study both design and something else, like science or business or something, so no art schools for me. I also do love the campus and just the general vibe of the school.
I’ll probably attend if I don’t get into one of my other two favorites.

WashU is definitely one of my top choices but I am going to wait and see where else I get in. However, I do prefer it to Georgetown even if that school is more known for international relations.

• To which of Wash U’s schools did you apply?
College of Arts and Sciences

• Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
I originally did not want to apply because I wanted to go outside of the Midwest for college, but my parents convinced me to visit junior year and I absolutely loved it. The students are fantastic, quality of life is wonderful, and there is a great atmosphere on campus. The top-notch facilities and incredible dorms are a definite plus too!

Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?
I applied to WashU cause I enjoyed my experience there this summer as a student in the Young Writer’s Institute. The campus is beautiful, St Louis is nice, the food was pretty good there (but i gained like 5 pounds while there lol), the creative writing professor i had was awesome and I just really liked it overall.

I also applied for scholarships which may have counted for demonstrated interest

Arts and Sciences (I <3 PNP)

• Why did you apply to Wash U, and why are you thinking of attending?

Several Latin awards, some school-wide ones. Nothing special.
