Who was at the Open House today?

what did you guys think... and who's going for sure??

I didn't go. Do you think you could tell me what happened today? and what would u say was the best housing? and yes, I'm going for sure. Fight on!

uhhh well it started off with the admissions officers welcoming us and telling us why we should choose sc and blah blah and then we got divided up into different groups according to majors and there were just a bunch of like academic sessions where we could ask questions and then the housing, campus and neighborhood tours which i didnt go on cause i didnt wanna risk getting shot HAHA... you didn't miss anything, really.

yeah, I went too, but I arrived at 3....lol. All I saw was a couple of dorms....So I guess I didn't miss anything?....

oops i forgot to answer your question about housing, um... it really just depends on what kinda person you are and whether you want to be a part of a special interest community... there are so many different options... residence halls, apartments, suites, etc. go to http://housing.usc.edu/ and they let you view the rooms.

alright thanks. I didn't go b/c I've already seen and heard them do the whole talking stuff but I really wanted to see the dorms.

yah, i've already viewed those sites on housing but I am really curious of the hallways...would it be like a long hallways with just doors on both sides...and I also want to see the bathrooms & shower area etc. I put down birnkrant as my first

not sure, why don't you visit one day and take a tour?

I visited USC but they didn't have housing tours.

i was 99 percent sure about UCLA

till today. SC was amazing.

everyone--current students, incoming freshman, faculty, even the parking lot person was incredibly friendly. oh the marching band was great how could i forget haha---i really liked the atmosphere, and ANNENBERG is like heaven. the associate dean had called me at home earlier in the week and met with me today individually, the gesture itself was nice and yeah he really did a good job of selling the school! he's an expert on what i'm most interested in studying/researching (media's affect on international relations and politics) i felt like part of the trojan family before i even started school LoL.

as i walked around the campus and talked to people, i was all smiles and i dunno something about SC jsut clicked i didn't get that feeling at UCLA.

what am i gonna do now?! i think i'm leaning towards SC. i'm so confused.

that's a really tough decision... but if i got into ucla i definitely would've gone there... :( lucky you i'd much rather be in westwood than in the ghetto lol ucla has such a beautiful campus...

pixiedancer, I totally know what you mean. I got into both schools, but I was already leaning towards USC since it was my top choice. I visited UCLA and was surprisingly impressed, but it didn't give me that feeling of excitement that I got from SC. SC had such friendly people who were so in love with their school. I would say that USC definitely sells their school better than UCLA. The atmosphere at USC is so much more light because of the students there seem genuinely happy to be there. Good luck with your decision.

ThisMyShiit, everyone else seems to survive at USC in the "ghetto" (which it really isn't compared to other places in LA), so I think you would've been OK. If SC students want to go to Westwood, it's only about a 15 minute drive away. It's no different than going anywhere else in LA.

steaky- Birnkrant has a few places where the hallway winds, but basically it's just two sections of long hallway (either side of the elevator) with doors on both sides.

Although there aren't housing tours, you can always go inside anyways. You can just wait for a student to go in, and follow them.

pixiedancer- Although it makes your decision harder, I'm glad you had a good visit with USC. And Annenberg certainly does treat its students well.

I was in Annenberg as well. :) I was basically in awe throught the entire tour... Such great facilities, friendly people, and overwhelming spirit. USC's my #1 choice, but my stinking financial package hasn't arrived yet. I'm even more so desperate for a good package because of today.

The dorms weren't too bad... I was able to see Marks Towers, Pardee, and Trojan residences, but Birkrant wasn't giving any tours :/ That's the one I wanted to see the most, too.

how was pardee??

Pardee's dorms were a bit bigger than the rest I saw, but I heard that North Residential has the largest. Overall, Pardee wasn't too bad. Average, I guess.

i heard all the waterpolo guys stay there.. yum

what is the best dorm where you actually want to get some work done and a moderate amount of socializing. and you don't want heavy partying. and a nice decent sized room.

isn't pardee single gendered by floors?

It was a marvelous event. I loved the marching band as well as the keynote speakers. I found the campus to be even more beautiful than last time I visited. I stayed with my friend in a sorority house the night before the event and partook in a USC social outing. Let me just say........it seems to be one of the best educations on the west coast and another facet of great importance is that there are so many good lookin women. Honestly, I mean 50% of the female population is gorgeous. Nothing better than USC girls. Also, I went to the Occidental event the day before for admitted students. It was nowhere near the grandeur of USC.
* It was funny because I was in a lecture hall with my parents listening to a PHD historian speak about the social sciences when we noticed Jerry Rice was sitting right behind us. His daughter is considering SC I suppose.
