Who wears their shoes around the house?

I was just wondering...

This may be some sort of culture thing because I've always noticed Indian-American people (myself included) NEVER wear shoes/sandals in their houses...

I was just thinking about that last night after I tracked in wet grass…
I wear shoes inside all the time, but if i’m not gonna be leaving the house anytime soon or am watching tv, I’ll take them off and just wear socks

All people that I know who have nice homes (like …nice, expensive homes make their children take off their shoes at the entrance.

I don’t wear shoes in my home… but the floors are pretty dirty, so the bottoms of my feet get dirty.

But yeah… actually… I don’t know anyone who wears shoes in their home on a normal basis.

Asian and Middle Eastern families NEVER wear their shoes in the house.

True, all of our Indian friends and us always ask visitors to take off their shoes before entering. Same at the Hindu Temple, we always take off our shoes before going in.

I can’t speak for all Asian families but I get screamed at for even wearing flip flops in the house.

My mom makes us wear our shoes in the house[she is hispanic] but my dad makes us take off our shoes[he is caucasian]. My mom has an apt and my dad has a house. My mom grew up with cement/dirt floors so she probably has the habit of keeping shoes on.

When I lived elsewhere I was always barefoot or wore socks indoors, but now I live in the Caribbean and I hate that I have to wear flip flops in the house because of scorpions.

I don’t. We are Asians.

All of my Asian friends take their shoes off and switch to house sandals or socks when they go in their houses. But they all live in the same apartment building. I’ve visited one once since she moved out and I don’t remember what she did.

I never wear shoes at home. I think it’s pretty weird for anyone to. My father does, but that’s because his toe was hurt in an accident while he was at war and it’s pretty repulsive now.

i d get beat if i wore shoes indoors. not asian. our carpets and floors are really nice and my mom doesnt want me to mess them up with my ‘outside’ feet. slippers only on hard floors.

Not I (Hispanic family).

My mom cleans the floor religiously, so she beats me up if I wear shoes inside. Besides, its disgusting. Think of all the germs and unsanitary materials you are tracking in the house.

I’ve never worn shoes inside the house. I usually walk around the house barefoot.

who wears shoes in the house? i only do that at this one friend’s house who has nasty floors and 3 dogs…

No I never wear shoes inside either, maybe if I’m getting ready to leave in a few minutes I find myself walking around in them as I’m getting ready to go.

i’m Asian (indian american). that should explain it.

Yea, I go barefoot in the house. I don’t see the point of having shoes on in the house, they only track dirt and germs in the house, as well as restricting comfort :)

Not allowed under any circumstance to wear shoes in the house- we have white floors. And I’m 100% white.

Even if I could wear shoes in the house, I probably wouldn’t. I’m perfectly happy walking around barefoot.

I don’t. My mother would kill me if I wore my shoes (she’s european). I have flip-flops that I wear around the house, though.
