the only reason I know is because of the ED threads from years past

Joined the convo a little late but I applied to Wharton ED
9/10 (im determined not to get too attached just yet!)
- What is your favorite aspect of Penn?
Undergraduate business school with concentrations relating to political science…plus PennDemocrats is the best. There are always events going on and I like the work hard, play hard lifestyle. - Did you visit campus? What did you think of it?
I did, twice. Once for an info session over the summer and once last week, overnight for an Obama event. I love the architecture even though its a little mismatched… I think it builds character haha. - Least favorite part about Penn?
The coffee at the cafe in Huntsman Hall (upstairs) was horrendous… $4 down the drain - You want to go there mostly because… it was the one time I visited a school and felt like everything was perfect
- The first thing you’ll do if you find out you got in! Start getting all teary-eyed… then go to CommonApp and delete my pending apps

Haha @whartonitis, i’d delete all of my other apps too. I would save so much money if I got into Wharton ED.

ok, are we sure it’s the 10th of december?

Guys, where does it say 10th is the official date when decisions are released?

I emailed Penn a few days ago…and they said they’ll email the date to all ED applicants…i havent recevied an email saying such yet…!

It was the 10th last year. The comparable Friday this year is the 9th. As you point out, though, the date won’t be official until the Admissions Office says it is.

For what it’s worth, the Brown Admission Dean was quoted yesterday regarding Brown ED results:

[Early applications increase for class of 2016 - The Brown Daily Herald - Serving the community daily since 1891](http://www.browndailyherald.com/early-applications-increase-for-class-of-2016-1.2666812)

The Ivies usually release decisions within a day or so of each other, if not on the same day.

Argh. This wait is killing me, and the only way to stop the pressure is to work super hard on my other college supplements. I find that super helpful but tiring :S

On the plus side, one essay left :)

Penn ED! I hope we all get in. I sure want toooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Gah! I was just emailed for an M&T interview. So scared…

do you mean for the Jerome Fisher program? if it’s just an alumnus interviewing you, don’t worry.

Yes, for the Jerome Fisher program. Why should I not worry if it’s “just” an alumnus?

Just did the interview for Penn ED.

Needless to say, I wrecked it :D

well I just had one this weekend and it was seriously no big deal

it’s super conversational and the alumni are volunteers so it’s unlikely that you’ll get a mean alumnus

the first thing he said was that the interview could only help me, that it couldn’t be used against me

it just wasn’t the high stress situation that I was expecting so I wouldn’t worry about yours either

Do you guys know when Penn stops requesting interviews?

my interviewer said that because its ED all of the evaluation forms on applicants have to be in by November 20th so I’d say that’s when they stop. The Penn website says until the “end of November” too though so I’m not entirely sure.

What kind of questions did your interviewer ask you? (Did you prepare at all?)

i actually spent a couple of hours with my sister and my parents practicing the generic tell me about yourself, why do you want to be a physician, why Penn, etc but my interviewer’s questions were really abstract. Any answers I prepared didn’t get used at all haha

the only one you should expect is “why penn” (obviously)

the abstract questions didn’t scare me but they really forced me to think during the interview, so I didn’t freak out during it…if that makes any sense haha the deep thinking sort of calms your nerves. We’re all intelligent kids (we’re applying to Penn) so I think these interviews are just to see how we think

it was just the two of us bouncing ideas off of each other, like philosophical debate

but I also think that it depends on who is interviewing you. I had a Bioengineering PhD alumnus who’s also an indian immigrant so we had a lot to talk about (I’m Pakistani and want to be a physician)

That sounds really interesting!! I had expected a more shallow type of interview…what do you mean by abstract?

Since my interviewer is an M&T alumnus (and I’m an M&T applicant), I think we might talk a lot about management and technology haha. Just a hunch though :P

haha yeah that’s probably true. I think they were more specific on the alumni assigned to Jerome Fisher applicants.

I just mean that our conversation did bring up my personal goals and achievements but that it really was about what kinds of ideas I have or how I think the world is going to change in the future…so like, philosophical stuff I guess?

it’s really up to your interviewer though. Mine has been stuck researching in labs for most of his life so I think he took this interview as an opportunity to explore something else intellectually.

When are the interview requests supposed to come? Do most people get interviews? I know that there are some Penn alumni around where I live but I don’t seem to have been contacted.

I heard that these interviews won’t affect decisions too much unless if you mess it up by puking on the interviewer or something :)
