Who's applying ED to Vagelos LSM?

No one else on CC seems to be applying, at least as far as google is telling me (lol). Just want to see who'll be with me in the ED round.

I’m going to bump this thread until Dec. 9th if I have to…

Bumppppppp

I am

10 char

Finally! A response! Have you sent in your app yet, inthelab?

Sorry for the late response, haha. But yeah, I have (obviously) applied

Nice, same here. How did your LSM essay go? I found the prompt a bit confusing…

Really sorry about the late responses, but I don’t check CC that often.

The essay was okay, I guess. Nothing special. I talked about how the cost of healthcare is increasing at a rate twice that of inflation and how I want to get involved in healthcare reform.

Eh, yeah. Mine was basically about the rising demand for pharmaceuticals and how I wanted to use business principles to streamline the process of drug development. I thought it was fairly well written, but I’m not really sure if I showed enough “passion.” Guess we’ll just have to see, though.

Yeah, I know what you mean. What school are you applying to?

Well in addition to LSM (obviously lol), I’m applying to Wharton as my backup. Also, did you do ED on your CAS backup? I wonder if it really impacts admission to LSM, but idk…

Also, how did you present your research? Like, where did you list your research publications? I just put mine on the resume, but I’m not sure if they’re even going to read it lol. Also, did you include an abstract too?

Wow, how’d you know I have a few publications? I mentioned them in the activities and honors section of the common app, and described them in detail in my resume. I’m pretty sure they’ll read it; they kinda have to, haha. And my backup is CAS. I didn’t include an abstract because it would have been too technical for them to get anything out of it. I have a brief description (1 sentence) of my work in my resume, but that’s it. I did get a supplemental letter from my mentor, and he also mentions my work.

Agh, yeah I was debating putting my abstract on for the same reason (my work is fairly specific as well). The only reason I decided to is b/c when I was talking to one of the LSM reps they said they’d have Professors that could actually interpret the work. And lol I sort of went on a hunch based on your CC name.

Anyway, let’s hope that LSM’s applicant yield wasn’t too high this year haha.

When I talked to an admissions counselor at a local visit, she told me that it’s probably not a good idea to send an abstract. I didn’t know they had professors that could read it, haha.

Oh well. But yeah, here’s to a small applicant pool! Cheers!

Did you ED to CAS too?

I’m a current LSM freshman (Class of 2016). Good luck everyone!
