Who's applying for Fall transfer 09'-Cornell?

I’m a little worried about that too. My essay came off well, but I had some trouble conveying both my desire to be a part of the Cornell community and my perfect fit with the ILR curriculum. In truth, the two do coincide, but they are the separate reasons I feel that Cornell is perfect for me. I talked about my visits and all the friends that I’ve made and school values I’ve discovered, and I didn’t spend nearly long enough talking about the ILR curriculum. Hope it doesn’t hurt me… my enthusiasm definitely came across, I just hope there’s enough focus there.

The wait is killing me. Just accept us already!

Lol I hope that you all get accepted!! I still can’t believe I got mine so early and over the email!!! I personally do not think they will update the status page with the red link about your decision until the end of April. I got my acceptance email monday and my status page still didn’t update yet. If they were to give you your decision, they would have to contact you. I think they are torturing us with this!! haha.

dragon, what time did you receive your acceptance email? Do they send them in the middle of the night like the status page updates? Or could you receive one any time of the day?

Well my yahoo time is wrong. But I checked my email on monday at 3:00pm and I saw “Congratulations and welcome to Cornell!” I still didn’t get my acceptance letter in the mail or packet yet. Why do they have to snail mail it to me :'(… I’m only 5 hours away from Cornell haha.

Lol… dragon, where did the link update on your status page?

The link didnt appear yet.

hmm…my excitement is all gone now.

i guess i really don’t expect to hear back until a few more weeks.

hey remy whats up?

Last night I had the most vivid dream. I dreamt that a Check Your Offer link appeared on the status page, and I clicked on it and found out I was accepted. Then I received an email congratulating me, followed by a financial aid offer of 0 because they were missing material, urging me to send it in. I dreamt that I told my mom with a big grin on my face.

Then I woke up.

Life sucks lol. (They say dreams are opposite of reality… last year I dreamt that NYU accepted me and I ended up getting rejected… boo!)

Hey, so did you hand your application in early on?? I handed mine in around March 10th, so I was cutting it close.

just another day of waiting, joechef.

Lol Godd funny story… The day before I got accepted to Cornell, I was dreaming about moving into Cornell!! haha… Then the day that I woke up, I got the email!!

Haha, it is funny, about the dream. Often, you do dream opposite of reality. I was talking to a Rabbi over Passover though, and he said another view is that the dream often follows its interpretation - if you expect a rejection, that’s what you’ll get.

I wouldn’t give it too much thought =P

so, i’m having severe problems with my english professor (english 5, critical thinking); i’ve already taken english 1A and 1B (not that those mean anything to y’all).

i may have to drop this english class. i’m getting an A, but my principals dictate that i should drop and report her.

will this hurt me at Cornell and other schools?

i requested a meeting with the chair of the dept. to report the teacher and request some other solution (like maybe she can assign me work and i can keep my A and the class, without seeing that professor ever again…)

any ideas?

? i dont get it. Are you saying u r enroll in taht class and the professor is claiming that u did nto take the pre-reqs? If you have an A dont drop it then!!!

dragonspeak, the teacher is a horrible teacher. she has only assigned one writing assignment and the semester is more than half way done. she hasn’t graded that paper (oh wait, it wasn’t a paper, we had to write a letter for “change”), we turned it in over a month ago. she has us submit online 1 paragraph responses to reading, and she hasn’t graded any of it.

only reason i know i have an A is because she filled out the Cornell report.

i emailed her with my frustration and she basically told me she has chronic pain and “would i have said that to a man” and she won’t be “bullied” and blah blah blah. point is that this is college, i have to show up despite my pain, i have to turn crap in, and all i ask is for an active professor (especially since i’m paying for class).

after her email last night, i am disgusted by her and her lack of professionalism. the class is a waste of my time and money and if i could, i would request a refund.

i would like to take the class with a REAL professor; if the class isn’t required by Cornell, can I drop and take the W and retake at Cornell?

sorry to vent, this just really upsets me.

Umm im not actually sure about this. I know at Cornell, you need to complete 1 year (2 semesters) of writing. Just a writing class. Since I am transferring to CALS, they require you to have that completed by the time u transfer. If you applying to CAS or to any other colleges within Cornell, then im not sure about that. I think you should call your target college’s admissions and ask if transfer students have to complete the writing requirement before they transfer. And if they don’t ask them if there is any advantage or disadvantage in the transfer admissions if you were to complete the writing requirement before heading to Cornell.

I know what you mean also. My english professor I hate him with my guts but I am staying there just so I can complete my writing requirement for Cornell.

i have taken 2 semesters of reading & composition (writing); english 1a and english 1b.

thanks dragon, i’ll see if i’m accepted and inquire. only thing is, deadline to drop is this or next week. ug.

Got a letter today from Cornell admissions and enrollment. It encouraged me to apply for financial aid. Thing is, I already submitted most of my application for financial aid (although it was only a couple of weeks ago).
Has anyone received a letter like this? I’m not sure how to interpret it. It could be the case that they haven’t received all of my financial aid and think I haven’t applied for it so are sending me a letter just to remind me that I still can.
