Who's applying to McGill for fall of 2018?

what’s the phone number for mcgill undergraduate admissions that i can call if i have a question about my application?

It appears that they’re starting to make major entrance scholarship decisions! One of my recommenders didn’t submit yet because she is out of the country without access to a printer or scanner for upload, and the McGill scholarship office emailed me to say they just need her recommendation in order to complete my decision. They said my file is ready for a decision as soon as they receive her letter.

Sounds promising, @writergirl0316! My D is still waiting on one of her recommenders, too.

I also didn’t realize that McGill’s GPA percentage for an A- is very different from what it is in the US… I was quite concerned about the minimum GPA requirement for the entrance scholarship! Lol @ShrimpBurrito

@writergirl0316 What is McGill’s GPA percentage for an A-? Now I’m intrigued!

@swimmingdad A=85-100, A-=80-84, etc.

But that would not apply to evaluating US applications.

@TomSrOfBoston Thank you! The other thing to get used to (for my son and his parents) is how few A/A- are given. The McGill rigor is real! But boy, my son’s critical thinking skills have increased noticeably even in just one semester!

I thought that maintaining a 92% average with McGill grade deflation for scholarship purposes was a bit harsh. Low 80’s is still hard, but perhaps a bit more doable. :wink: @SwimmingDad

Do you know when admissions lets you know about waitlist decision? I got waitlisted from one faculty but accepted to another

is there anyone applying to the faculty of science?

@khanh229 I did but got rejected. :confused:

I had my regional audition for the Schulich School of Music today! I think it went very well and that I have a chance of getting in!

@frazzledazzle may I ask about your stats? I’m really afraid of getting rejected :frowning:

If you got a 3.7+ gpa and 1450+ on ur sats your chances are fine

i got 9.6/10 gpa i also sent sat my sat is 1500 with 800 on math and chem but im an internation student i dont know if they would take that into consideration :frowning:

Question: if my scholarship application on Minerva says, “In-Process: Your application is being reviewed by a selection committee,” does that mean they have received all of my materials? I’m trying to call them now to confirm they have everything (since my last recommendation was sent in yesterday), but I’ve been on hold for around 15 minutes when they said I’d be on for 5

@ShrimpBurrito I saw you said there was a mishap with your D’s recommendation – what on the portal alerted you that there was something wrong?

@writergirl0316 It sounds like they got it! My D’s last letter was also submitted yesterday. Last week McGill admissions told her that her portal would update when they received it. Good luck!

Great! Thanks. I was on the phone waiting for about 20 minutes before I got through to someone who just asked for my email & said she’d confirm with me later. I also wanted to check to make sure they got my statement of rank, but they didn’t mention it in the email they sent about the missing rec, so I hope it’s okay. @ShrimpBurrito

@khanh229 you would probably hear good news soon since ur grades are way above the min. But dont take my word for it , it is just what i think from what i seen and heard so far

you will*

@khanh229 It was because the academic standard wasn’t met. 3.22 UW 3.8 W, 1380 SAT, 31 ACT.
