ok i dunno what happened, but my FA status changed today from “2014 New York University No financial aid data available” to “2014 New York University Award access not available”

international applicant & applying to Stern. :)

ok i dunno what happened, but my FA status changed today from “2014 New York University No financial aid data available” to “2014 New York University Award access not available”

international applicant & applying to Stern. :)

Is there supposed to be an award year you can click on? I have 2014, New York University, Financial Aid Year 2013-2014 when I click on Financial Aid Summary. When I click on the “2014” link, it says, “You have no financial aid awards available for viewing in this aid year.”.

When I click on “Accept/Decline Financial Aid”, I get the “Award access not available” thing.

I applied on Dec 31 to the Global Liberal Studies program. Omg this is probably a false alarm isn’t it? Or some default view? I never saw the original FA page when there was nothing on it so idk what it is supposed to look like. Gosh. This is terrible

Mine changed today. I was really nervous that many people had their FA status changed so quickly. It now reads “2014 New York University Award access not available.” I just hope this isn’t unsubstantiated theory :)

When you guys say you applied on a certain date, does that mean applied for financial aid or submitted the common app and supplements? I submitted my common app and stuff on 12/29 and my CSS profile and FAFSA on 2/15 (after the priority deadline). I haven’t seen the 2014 message yet. I applied to Stern btw

@fishfish12 what school/program did you apply to?

@busymom159 and @OosparklesoO and @jledoux2013 can you tell me what school/program did you apply to and are you domestic/international? Thanks so much!!!

@mamamianyu I applied to NYU New York/ CAS of Psychology

@fishfish12 are you a international student? Thanks!

@mamamianyu my son applied to NYU New York Campus CAS/Philosophy and we are domestic

@mamamianyu yes I am a international student

What if you don’t need aid and haven’t submitted a FAFSA/CSS Profile? Can your aid status still be updated?

^Yes. Anyone can have the FA change.

I’ve been reading this thread and it has me really surprised. So far, no change on the FA status for my S, and NYU is a match school for him, not a reach. So far he’s been accepted to Brandeis (similar ranking to NYU), Macaulay Honors College, Binghamton, and others. He even interviewed at a BA/MD program (waiting on that notification as well). The reason I’m worried is that his real dream is an Ivy and if he doesn’t make NYU then he definately wasn’t accepted by the Ivys. Does this “theory” really hold true? or do we have more time for it to change?

Anyone who does not have a FA status change is doomed to a miserable, mishap-ridden life. Or at least that’s what my Ouiji board says.

This thing is so crazy it is actually being talked about on threads for other schools!

Insanemom: if you look at the Ed II results thread- the theory does hold true (there arent enough examples to be sure, I wish there were more… But all the people who did post were true to the theory…) but it also says that they continue to change up until just a few days before data is released … So don’t loose hope yet.
I know some people who got waitlisted from Brandeis and have scores that seem more than NYU worthy so if he got into Brandeis than congrats and I bet the fa status will change soon
Personal theory: while its true that NYU is need blind, they also give aid based less on finances and more on how mch they want you to come… So it makes sense that your financial aid stuff wouldn’t open unless you were accepted… They can’t come up with an aid package based on how much they want you if the haven’t accepte you … - that’s just an idea I had that would explain what has been happening

@finalchild, haha. That’s awesome. This thread and theory really has us going crazy. Thank god it’s my last kid going through this!
@princess2013, thanks for the kind words. It does seem like a valid theory but I guess there’s still time for it to change, and yes, I just checked again, and still no change…

Insanemom, I’m waiting anxiously with you. I applied as a Recorded Music major and scored an interview, but I’m not sure how well I did… the guy kind of acted like he didn’t want to be there.

I’d still love to get in and I’d probably attend. So let’s hope for the best for both of us!

OK. This is awkward. FA status changed last night, as did school program from CAS to Liberal Studies.

Preliminary conclusions:

1) I am now a believer

2) This is still ridiculous and if true a remarkable flaw for a university of this size and stature

3) My D believes she is being accepted as part of the last, loser, dregs pile among the accepted and doomed to the remedial LSC Program.

can we safely assume that we got our major if our financial aid status changed, or just the school? i applied to stern’s BPE program, which i know accepts less people than the normal business major, and both the school and the major have stayed the same.

has anyone seen just the major change, within the same school? or is that too specific? lol

Okay, so how late can the financial aid change? I really was hoping to get accepted to NYU, but this FA is really discouraging.
