First of all, Cornell has almost no FA for us so unlike you can afford full tuition I would not apply ED there because it could be a headache if you get in and don’t get enough aid.

However, I did read somewhere else on CC that is was actually quite easy to get out of ED. I don’t remember the thread though.

It is indeed easy if the school does not make it affordable for you; you say thanks but no thanks (look for a reply card in the package, or call), and apply RD elsewhere.

There’s plenty of cause for a headache, though. You’ve just been admitted to your dream school, but you can’t afford to go, so you likely won’t be in such a good mood. :(

About ED: How are you guys so sure about it?

I still cannot decide. I hate to not be able to at least try Princeton. On top of that, I cannot compare aid, assuming I would be accepted into a multiple.lol I know the deadline is nearing. I have numbers and documents ready, but am still thinking whether to ED or not. I probably would not ED…or would I? Sigh!!

lol prjiki I am going through the same torturous thought process. On one hand, I want to show my interest in the school and possibly enjoy early acceptance… On the other hand, what if I could get accepted to more than 1 school in the RD round! It’s hell…

Good for you, Viggy. I have not been able to find the ‘right’ EA school.

I might end up sending applications to all the RD shcools really early and hope that it raises my chances… or not.LOL ‘itisinreach’ will understand what I am saying here!

@PrincetonDreams: I thought you were def gonna try Princeton. :)

prjiki, have you looked into Duke or Chicago or such schools? However, I think if you really like Cornell you should consider ED (even though it’s now crunch time) because you can always break the deal if you don’t get enough FA. I HIGHLY doubt they can FORCE you to attend. How could that legally happen and what school would pursue such a course of action? (going to court, etc.)
