Tell you son congrads on his Rose decision Mom2Sons. I accepted too, and tell him to go on facebook.....Rose Hulman 2011

My son has decided to go to Rose. It's just soooooo far away (we live in Florida). I'm just hoping and praying he doesn't get too homesick.

bethsboyz, I'm in a similar situation. I'm from Georgia, so yeah, nice 10-hour drive (depending on where you live, probably much longer), so I only got home at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter, and Spring Break (only for a few days then). There's so much to do on campus and working on homework. Plus he'll find a nice group of friends and settle right in. If he chose Rose-Hulman, it was probably partially because he wants to feel and be more independent and Rose is the perfect place to do that. The school gives students lots of freedom, but also enough work and fun stuff to keep them busy.

I guess I can't really say "Don't worry" because I'm not someone who's had a kid for 18 years in my house and then they go off far away, but don't worry.

Thanks Nic. He does want some independence. He's always been my kiddo that enjoyed doing things a bit differently. He's been to Brazil twice and he's headed to Canada this summer (but those trips have only been for a week at a time)

He'll be about 17 hours away from home in driving time. My sister is only 5 hours away though...........so at least he could get to her if needed.
