Who's sick of rap music?

No rap can be as amazing as some of the more challenging celtic reels.

Comparing apples and oranges...

Lately, rap has been very flat and superficial. But just a few months ago, we had great political lyrics in "Why?" by Jadakiss, and "Mosh" by Eminem. In general, Eminem's lyrics are incredible in touching on a variety of social issues. If you really listen to it, his later "violent" lyrics are more shows of mistakes than endorsement of violence. Also, for example Mike Jones: that song he has on the radio sounds real corny there, but if you watch the video, you can see what its really about, and it's not superficial.

Lots of cliched music comes out of every genre. Drugs and hoes are rap's cliche. Cheesy love songs are everything else's cliche.

I don't like much rap. The Streets are pretty cool tho, and I used to really like Eminem.

I don't think it gets much more cliched than Ludacris.

i just hate the rap music on the top 40, is what i'm trying to say.

I hate Usher...

Not a fan of rap. It just never really appealed to me, although rappers do carry some very infectious tunes that get stuck in your head for the rest of the day. I mean, mainstream rap seems very contrived nowadays. No, 50 Cent, I don't need you rapping ten different songs about your "ho's" and how much of a pimp you are. You want to know why you got shot 103940732432 times, 50? It's because people don't like you.

I prefer symphonic or power metal. And cello-driven metal (Apocalyptica).

thesiren72102,

thanks. my sc comes from a little frog that's native to puerto rico. it'd be like the bald eagle for americans.

anonymous5,

jadakiss is a poser. his song "why" was just a publicity stunt. "Why did bush knock down the towers." i despise bush, but that quote is just ignorance used to make money. same with eminem.

The best music ever is the soul music from the 50's 60's and 70's

Cowgirl, saying rap artists have no inherent talent is similar to saying modern artists have no inherent talent; just because it's not the typical musical or artistic "talent" you are used to does not mean there is a lack of it.

listen to talib kweli, pac, damien marley (welcome to jamrock), and mayb nelly

dont listen to 50, emminem, ja rule, lil bo wo or any of that crap

are you kidding tennisdude? Listen to Nelly over Eminem? Nelly's lyric are typical of what rappers talk about. That doesnt make him original in anyway. However, the former is def. original as they are considered the greatest in the history of rap and Reggae. You should instead listen to Eminem rather than some "St. Lunatic"

thesiren- That last song is "Who I am" by Jessica Andrews. Just fyi.

RCO813 - That's just my opinion. I just think that "musical" talent is much more impressive than whatever talent rap artists have. And the modern art thing is equally annoying. How can you compare Michelangelo's Judgement Day to a blue canvas with painted triangles on it? Maybe I'm not "used to it", but after a MUN trip to Paris, I don't ever want to be. See, we went to the Louvre and the d'Orsay - amazing tapestries, sculptures, paintings, everything. The next day's museum was the Pompidou center of modern art. After seeing the piece entitled "My period" (yes, it is what you're thinking) around the corner from a picture of some guy with nails through his arm, I officially gave up on modern art. The same thing happened with rap music. Some of it might be interesting or thought provoking - but the majority, to me, is not. And in my opinion, anyone who thinks that their period is art or that singing songs that purposely degrade women by turning them into sexual objects seriously does have a LACK of talent.

What bothers me about rap is that more than half of the songs are about girls shaking their a**........it's pathetic to call these songs music.

rap is modern day poetry

Actually if you listen closely to the words of "Batter Up" by Nelly, it's an elaborate representation of the changing world of politics during the 1970s and 80s.

Ok, I lied.

Seriously, turn off the radio and listen to those RC0813 suggested.

I would also add Jurassic 5, Nas, Immortal Technique, Brother Ali, Little Brother, Mos Def and Jean Grae to the list.

I hate rap music. It's all they ever play at school dances. I can stand and do like some techno, but rap? "Who let the dogs out?" Does that take any talent whatsoever?

I like New Age music. When I feel in a more upbeat mood, I listen to artists like Paul McCartney, Sting, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, and Annie Lennox. I see no redeeming value in rap music.

Stop listening to pop-rap--50 Cent, Nelly and G-Unit for example.

That bull***** is not indicative of all rap. I'd list the rappers to check out, but many individuals have already pointed them out. Most of the rap on the radio is garbage, ie. Ying Yang Twins "Whisper" wow?

Check out the rappers that have been listed. Many touch on issues pertinent to society and have a redeeming value.

Rap today is pop. It is horrible. Rap used to be poetry, but now it's all just about "es" and "hoes" and how COOL the rapper is. It's egotistical ***. Also, the millions of white guys who pop their collars and wear faded jeans listen to rap... and we know they are all straight off the streets... those "hard-knocks"...

Who here likes wiggers?

It bothers me that young kids want to BE like these rappers. I like some rap. I'm a N.E.R.D fan - they're definitely a mix of rock/rap. I like Kanye West and Jay-Z. The Roots are good and so is Nas.

I hate 50 Cent and I think Eminem is a hypocrite. He put down artists who supposedly made "bubblegum" music. I would never deem "Ass Like That," to be art in any way. W T F would he call that song? It's bubblegum, plain and simple. A lot of his songs are nowadays.

I get all these rappers confused too. They all seem the same. They have nothing intelligent to say. The girls are in their videos so people will watch them. Of course.

Majay, "The Whisper Song" is a piece of ****. I agree.

It bothers me that talentless ****s can own five cars and a pool and a mansion...
