Why are there so many essays for PLME?!?!?!

It’s driving me currrrrrazy!!!

i agree. i'm like FLJJLVKJf FIVE ESSAYS FOR BROWN?! NOOOO WAY.

haha i just applied ed. at first i was overwhelmed, but once i started writing, it sorta just came. i hope that's good?

yeah....those essays consumed my life from september to november 1, at least you have time to write them

I don't know why you complain about the PLME essays..I love them

In my opinion, I am eager to share the AOs about my passion and love for medicine, so it is notat all difficult for me to write the essays..

Just have patience and work hard.. Good luck to you!

guys - if you're really passionate about PLME, the essays should be enjoyable to write.

I'm not applying to PLME and although I agree to a certain extent (that they should be easy/fun if you're really passionate about medicine), I think that it would be hard to come up with lots of different stuff to say for each of the essays, since many of them overlap.

what's PLME?

truth!!!!
but it's just aggravating because with all the colleges that I'm applying to now and all their essays, it's just isn't pleasing to see that browny has SIX!!!!

Whats plme??? :d

it was not that i didn't like writing them....i loved writing the first one, but then i got to the second one and i saw that there was overlap, which confused me......my teacher helped me fix it up though and they developed into 2 clear, distinct essays

For a school where one of the four graduation requirements is to show proficiency in writing, it's not surprising. Additionally, the two supplemental essays for plme aren't outrageous; one of them is just why you want to be a doctor and the other is how you would use Brown's open curriculum to your advantage, both of which seem like reasonable essays to me. The problem lies in the redundancy of the undergraduate essays: all three of them seem to contain a "why Brown" aspect.

exactly karmapigou.......i felt a little repetitive after i wrote my first PLME supplement essay....but i made the 2nd one different from the others by mentioning specific courses i would take, why i would take them, and how they would help me become a better doctor

Well I haven't written a single one of the essays. I wrote a common "why do you want to become a doctor" essay that has all of the reasons I want to become a doctor, just nothing school-specific. Luckily one of two essays I wrote as my commonapp essay works for one of Brown's undergraduate prompts, so iIm 1/3 done there. Guess I should retract my earlier statement: by virtue of overlapping essays, I've completed 1.5 of the essays.

lobzz, PLME is the Program in Liberal Medical Education, which combines undergrad studies with med school, all at Brown. It's 8 years of schooling and you get both your bachelors and your MD. Basically, you get to have the 4 years of liberal education in whatever you want to major in, and then you automatically go to the Warren Alpert Med. School. It's pretty neat but super hard to get in to (they only accept 60 students!)

Thank you:D

ONLY 60 STUDENTS?!?! Wow, I'm only in 10th grade now, but I'm going to work really hard to get in! OMG, wow; the thought of just 60 students getting accepted out a bajillion is kind of overwhelming!

I meant *out OF a bajillion.

do they want one or two essays? its very ambiguous!

they want both essays
