Why are you anxious about Berkeley?

Wow. Sakurax and Yunie are cousins. That’s pretty hot.

@ amazon: Ich wei

Because even with great grades and plenty of EC’s, Berkeley is and will always be a crapshoot!

I have a 4.0 and all my major prereqs that i could possibly take at my cc done, but my ec’s are pretty weak, so that’s the only possible weak spot i can find in my application. My major is electrical engineering, which is always pretty competitive.

After talking to some other people in my physics class today who also applied to berkeley, the majority of them said they don’t have the 3rd english class to satisfy the english requirement. From what i’ve heard this gives them a huge disadvantage over myself and everyone else who has it done. Do all the other engineering majors on here that applied to berkeley have the english requirement completely fulfilled?

Lacking prereq’s, but have tons of relevant work experience. I was afraid of having too many credits because of the various schools I’ve attended; I didn’t know the right questions to ask and didn’t understand the process as well as I could have when I was applying. Now, I think that I could have taken at least a few of the prereqs this semester and not have gone over the limit…ugh…it’s still unclear to me. Also, I have reread my essay 10 times and fear that it was cold…that I could have organized better, something. Lastly, I haven’t been involved in the community enough. I’ve been going through a lot of family issues the last two years, but didn’t mention them in my essay as reasoning for my lack of EC’s this year…oh, I just remembered…I totally forgot to include a year of work experience while going to school. Man, I think I just rejected myself!

On one hand I’ve convinced myself that UCSC is a great choice for my major and I should be happy to know I’m going somewhere…but on the other, I can’t shake the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that my dreams may be dashed.

There is comfort in knowing I’m not alone. More will be rejected than are accepted and that doesn’t mean we won’t have access to great educations. Thankfully, this will all be over soon and I’ll stop throwing pity parties for myself and move on. Putting this in writing has helped me accept responsibility for whatever may come  Thanks for listening!

I am anxious because I did all my pre-reqs according to UCLA’s standards, and pretty much ignored every other UCs. However, so far I’ve gotten into the other campuses I applied to, so I may very well have a chance. Ahhhhh 4 more days!

see i’m the complete opposite… I’ve catered my life around getting into CAL and i got into UCLA thinking I wasnt gonna. I’m still terrified though because I have always wanted this and I gave up so much in the past like a full ride to college just to follow the dream of going to CAL

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH friday can’t be here ne sooner :(

Because UCLA rejected me. If they didnt think i was good enough for their school, what
more for Cal? :frowning:

<\3

ciaokarol,

I did my IGETC for UCLA and was accepted to Cal as do plenty of other people. Good luck :)

because UCLA and UCSB rejected me for Mech. Engg. with a 3.89 GPA, athletic career in college, two internships and a pretty good personal statement. i don’t get it, im literally dumbfounded.

i think its because UCB is the only one that really has my major Industrial Engg. I have completed all the prereqs for that course…but im 2-3 subjects off for Mech Engg at ucla and ucsb and they are big ones like physics and chem… i hope i was rejected because of that. UCB is my only shot now, and I refuse to think I dont have a good shot or that I dont deserve it, so there…thats why I’m anxious. Hurry up berk, im dying here haha

@kapitanemo you’re 2-3 prereqs short?? That’s a pretty big deal. That’s defiantely the reason you were rejected. You need to have them all done or they don’t really look at you.

eits25-- thanks, good to know!

It’s probably stated before somewhere, but how can I check the acceptance rates for certain majors? Please and thanks!

I’m nervous because I was denied my first-choice major (to UCLA) even with a GPA that’s above the average admittance one. Worries me for Berkeley!

^^same here. i was wondering where i can check the acceptance rates for certain majors. it definitely isnt on uc statfinder.

It’s towards the end.

^ i couldnt find Media Studies on that website :frowning: is that the one there is?

media studies is under interdisciplinary studies, second from the last list
