Why are you guys on CC?

I like seeing other people freaking out about colleges their freshman year and worrying like I do…because I realize I’m not the only one. It makes me feel better about myself when I see really low GPAs, and it makes me work harder when I see really challenging classes and Test Scores.

I’m bored and am able to learn a lot of stuff. And it’s funny to see how ridiculous some people are

My counselor knows absolutely nothing about college (she’s not even a real college counselor, she’s just the secretary), my favorite teacher/mentor is great at college advice but we totally clash on the type of schools I would like, and I like talking to other people about college, colleges I’m interested in, and gaining more insight into the college process and college life. It helps to have the perspective on a lot of things about certain colleges from people who actually attend the college.

Came here after looking something up for my college I’m starting at this fall, and there seems to be a nice little community here.

College help, especially because I’m an international hailing from a not-very-famous school, so I need experienced people to guide me, and there seems a lot of them here.

Because I’ve got a counselor at my school who thinks she ought to be the counselor because shes related to the higher authorities. And therefore…with a smile on her face, with junk in her head and with ignorance in her heart she sits without knowing the head or tail of the application process … (LORD SAVE OUR SCHOOL)

I like being ahead of everyone at my un-college focused school. It’s also a great resouce.
And talking about college is so fun!

Sent from my iPhone using CC

I have a lot of college questions… when I search them on google, it always take me to this site. Also, it’s nice to compare my schedule, grades, and GPA with other members. I like being informed about college :)

I joined cc, because every time I researched a college related question online, I always ended up on a cc forum page related to the exact issue I had in mind.

Most of my friends are completely idiotic and feel like their 1500 on the SAT is amazing, so cc is a great place to discuss with a more intellectual crowd.

Exactly. Love the way you put that. At 2200 I am the only one in my grade to have above a 2000 at a supposedly college-prep school. Only about 4 kids have above a 1600 with writing. But here on CC, I’m average if not on the lower end sometimes. I like that.

I’m going into a very competitive major (Musical Theatre), one that only has two degree programs training triple threats in my country. I need CC to scope out how admissions in the US and Canada differ (and believe me, they do!) for those programs.

So that I won’t be disappointed with my rejections once they get here because I’ll know there’s crazy people out there like you guys who deserved the spot more :P

This place has lots of useful information about different school subjects and tests that help give me an edge. I’ve picked up a few test tricks here and there, and got some inside knowledge on a few classes I was wary about.

Some people here can be arrogant, full of BS, ignorant, or just complete d*ckheads, but if you’re willing to sort through it all, you can find some really useful stuff. But that’s the internet for you. Just stay away from things like AA threads, creepy parents, X college is better than Y college, and all the other stupid crap people fight about, and this place isn’t too bad.

To scope out my competition

And to get ideas to better shape my application.

haha @Jhherndon same here but im also use it when im bored and there’s no on on facebook and/or my hs counselor is useless =)

To see some of the ridiculous things that people rant and rave about. It also doesn’t hurt to mention that I have nothing else to do in my sad and pathetic life.

Boredom. At one point, to learn about college, but by now I’ve learned enough about the admissions process that it doesn’t help to be here anymore.

It is cool to read posts from people who will go on to become great things. This site has the biggest collection of smart people out of any place I can think of.
