<p>I guess I don't understand why so many people want others to chance them? Can't you read the admission statistics on Naviance or Collegeboard.com and chance yourself? Doesn't your guidance office help you pick safety schools and reach schools? What does it matter what other people think if they are not working in the admissions department of that particular college? Can someone explain me what this absolute mania is about?</p>

<p>Many of us don’t have Naviance, and the statistics on College Board are far from indicative of one’s chances. Many counseling departments aren’t that great, or don’t give much attention to students. A lot of people here are pretty knowledgeable about admissions, even if they’re not officers.</p>
