Hello everyone!
My family and I are planning to set out my high school life in a boarding school. I'm expressed as an academically outstanding student, not to be arrogant in any way. Although I have started the process of applying, I wasn't sure why boarding schools are better than normal high schools next street. I wanted to hear some of your opinions on why boarding schools are better for your own future. Thanks!

Well, it all depends on how good the high school around the corner is, as well as how good the boarding school is. I mean, if you’re talking about top-tier boarding schools such as Andover and Exeter, well then, of course they’re better than the average high school. Andover’s been around longer than Columbia has (the university), and they’re world-famous prep schools. The college admissions officers know the difference between an Andover A and a public school A (I’m talking about grades here.) Plus, they give you a sense of independence, though some parents might be against that because they’re thinking, “My children will get the chance to become independent in their college years!” Boarding school is kind of like preparing you for college, which prepares you for real life. The reason I was looking at boarding school was because my friend was all excited about applying and I thought, “Oh, why not? It’ll be kinda like applying for college!” And in various different ways, it does help you become more independent and really prepare you for reality. You’ll probably meet people who you’ll never forget and stay in touch with forever, and I think the whole school is just more close-knit, seeing as most of you live there and so do the teachers. I think you also become more mature, because you’ll probably be communicating more with the teachers not only about homework assignments, but they’ll be teaching you life lessons as well outside of the classroom.

Anyway, that was just my opinion on things. Hope it helped, though.

Thank you, nataliet! I appreciated your opinions greatly.
I know this response is late, but I wanted to say thanks, for your tips. I’m set on applying for boarding schools now, and I’ll try my best.

Boarding school is wonderful. I’ve experienced private school, public high school and boarding school, and by far boarding has been my favorite. The independence that you are granted is just the perfect amount for an easier adjustment to college, your teachers and coaches are always just around the corner (and I do mean ALWAYS), and you get to live right next to your best friends :)

It’s the best.

Boarding school just offers opportunities that are nonexistent at public schools. Here’s a good article.
