I see so many cliques in high school. People from their own race tend to stick with each other...people make best friends with people from their own race, they date people from their own race, and they mostly associate themselves with their own race.

I understand VERY few racists exist. A lot of, say, Chinese people are chill with Indian people and vice versa. But I notice that many are just acquaintances...but why can't they go any further?

I love making great bonds with people out of my race, but I just wish a lot more people are...is college going to be like this too?

Well idk about you but two of my best friends are different races. I’m white, my friend is asian, and my other friend is jamaican. We are the best of friends and its good to have a mix of cultures. I hope college is more diverse because I’m sick of people from where I live.

LOL. i with friends with people of all races. But apparently i don’t have many…or no white friends outside of class. (they’re just my acquaintances, haha)

Most of my friends are Black, east african, asian (a couple), indian & arab.

No idea why i don’t have any white friends. I never really thought about it lol…

But my bestest friends are from the Philipines,Somalia, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon,India and Eritrea lol…so you could kinda say i have a pretty diverse group of friends?

But yeah, i’d agree–even by just taking my school as an example…everyone hangs out w/ their own race[Including myself…sometimes]…or whatever country they’re from…but ive noticed that asians mingle around w/ white ppl more though…just an observation haha.

I think it’s just sort of a “birds of a feather stick together” thing - people feel they have the most in common with others of the same race, so they hang out with each other. My best friend, every guy I’ve been with in high school, and a lot of my other close friends are all a different race than me, so there are exceptions.

Well my school is made up of about 85% whiteman and 12% Mexican, .8% Asian (there is like 1 that I know of) and maybe a couple people of other races. I wish it was more ethnically diverse…

Well, my friends are mostly asian(where there is a 9% asian population). Being in a academically diverse school, the academic programs are populated by asians, and I tend to have more of those friends. But even those “friends” don’t like me much.

Yea I know what you mean. It’s probably a lot of the same cultural similarities. But my group of friends is actually pretty diverse so it’s nice and balanced. New perspectives.

Hmm…well, I’m like the opposite, lol. I’m black but most of my friends are white. I guess it just has to do with where you were brought up. My elementary and middle schools weren’t exactly very diverse, lol.

I’m the only Asian in my little group of friends (diverse age wise- 2 seniors, like 6 juniors, 2 sophomores, and another fellow freshman). One of my best friends is Mexican, 2 other people besides me are Jewish, one is an exchange student from Germany… so we’re pretty diverse. That just makes us awesome!

Sighh Matt, we’ve had our b*itch moments. But deep down, we’re friends. You know it!

I hate it when AP classes are dominated by Asians. It destroys diversity, and its like we isolate ourselves from other people and further fuel stupid stereotypes. :(

A ton of my friends are Asian. I feel inferior to them in every way, because they’re geniuses, but it’s ok… they embrace me for who I am.

I also have Persian (well, I am one myself so I guess it makes sense), Asian, Hispanic, black, Indian, white, etc. friends. My friends are all over the map.

that being said, there are also specific groups of races/ethnicity at my school that only hang out with each other and are kind of isolated on purpose from everyone else. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my school is predominately white but I think there’s a good fusion of many different races there.
