thanks

Additionally we would like to know if the bed is currently in an L-shaped bunk in the room (Wright) is the lower bed attached to or just sitting underneath the upper bunk

mama1317…In the room I saw it was just sitting there

I hope this isn’t true…our tour guide at Orientation talked
specifically about bunking while we were touring Teter. This would be disappointing.

Lofting or bunking is dependent upon the type of bed frame supplied by IU. Teter allows for an L-shaped bunk which is similar to lofting. There is room under one of the beds. Both of my kids had this configuration. It worked well.

As short as four years ago, students (or parents) could loft or bunk the beds themselves. In the past year or two IU no longer provided the pieces needed to do so. The lofting or bunking now must be done by an RPS approved vendor or worker. I suspect this was for safety reasons.

The beds in all rooms, with two beds, will not be lofted or bunked. They will be set up as two beds in the room.

I just didn’t think to ask if it was permanently attached. Though I have seen a pic of a wright room
with the beds separate but one still lofted. In a call to Wright they told me they both cannot be lofted
And discouraged any re-configuration of the room except what was there. I also asked if desks will fit under a lofted bed and they said no, which seems odd.

3Triplet…look at the link I provided you can bunk in Teter or L shaped bunk you cant just loft your bed. IU:RPS - Bedloft Chart 2012

mama1317 I thought I saw photos of desks under lofted beds. I guess they changed the rules. Also each person has to pay $25 to housing if they want their beds changed

mama1317–It’s been awhile since I’ve been in a room in Wright, but at one time the desks were built in and could not be moved. In Teter the desk area was attached to the walls as were the shelves. There was a filing cabinet type area that could be moved around. (I think)

The desks also have a shelving type area on top which is why they don’t fit under a lofted bed.

Rrah the furniture in Wrght is all modular, I did not see any built-ins in our tour or on any of the few pics I have seen. I have to say this is one of the areas that I think IU needs to improve, the pics of the rooms are few, most do not give you a full view. I wish they would show the rooms with furniture but not occupied and also full pics of them occupied. Even many of the dimension/diagrams are not legible on some of the halls. Makes it very hard to plan with your student. It’s difficult to get that info on a tour when you have 10 people in the room and a limited time.
