Just a random question: if NU's website says that my dorm has two twin "bunkable" beds, does that mean that the beds can also be separated into two separate, normal beds, or do they have to stay bunked on top of each other?

you can either bunk them or separate them into two regular twin beds on the floor.

Okay, thanks so much, lorawright!

Oh, and one more question: does anyone know if the rooms (West Fairchild in particular) come with curtains, and if not, is there a way we can put them in ourselves?

are the beds loftable?

As far as I know, all dorms have curtains or blinds, depends on the dorm.

Lofting beds is actually illegal in Evanston. There are very few people who go that route. Some of the beds are loftable, most aren’t, unless they roll out the new furniture in all the dorms next year. Bed raisers (also illegal, but your CAs wont care) are much more popular and really all you need.

where do you purchase a bed raiser?

Container store, target, wal-mart, among others. A bed riser is a set of 4 hard rubber cylinders that you place under the legs of the bed, thus giving you room under the bed to shove more crap.
