Filling out the supplement due November 15 (early decision). The only thing left for me is the little 250 word box on well, why Carleton? Kind of having trouble putting it into words. I know I like it, I felt at home staying overnight but I'm not sure what to say. Help?

because they have the best ultimate frisbee team in the nation

I don’t think we’re going to be able to answer this for you. The best advice I can give is to pick a few specific details from your overnight and focus on those.

Did you sit in on a class? Eat lunch with people? Hang out at night? Play ultimate? Write about your overnight.

Funny because I actually do love ultimate frisbee. But will they be cool with me saying as part of my essay that I want to go to their school partly for their awesome frisbee? Or are they looking for something more abstract?

I think they are looking for why YOU like Carleton. If this is your first choice among all the schools you have considered, there must be a reason. Academic reputation? Atmosphere of the campus? Because you’ve dreamed of going there for years? Or because when you visited you knew this was the place for you (why?) There must be some reason you are applying there ED–tell them why you feel like this is the place for you.

I think you may have the old supplement. The common application supplement for this year is 300 CHARACTERS…which is about 3 sentences. I think last year was 250 words. Check it out…
