I'm not a happy camper right now. Our adviser stressed that everyone who took BIO 311 as a dual credit in high school should take it again this fall. In fact, most all dual credit was looked down upon. Sure, there might have been something that wasn't discussed but it's pretty insulting that we are so lacking (I graduated top 1%) that we can't make it in UT sciences. So, should pre-whatever health field still re-take BIO 311 or what?

Double check with the HPO office. From my meetings with my advisor there, the reason for retaking courses (or not taking CLEP/AP credit for them) is that most med, dental, etc. schools want to see you take the science courses in residence at your university.

I can sort of see that but if you make decent grades in the later sciences, then you obviously know your stuff. It’s annoying to have to repeat a class especially when time and money are tight.

Agreed - like I said, I highly recommend meeting with someone at the HPO office just to make sure it’s what you need to do, although I’d hope at this point your department advisor would know what they were talking about from previous pre-professional students they’ve had.

some med schools dont accept certain types of credit, theirs a premed thread with a list…

Yeah i have been thinking the same thing too lately, I got well above sufficient grades in AP Bio II at my HS and i don’t particularly feel like retaking part of the course

You don’t have to retake Bio 311C/D. If you choose to get AP credit for those courses, Med schools would like to see you take upper/next level Biology courses in lieu of those classes.
