Students/Alumni who chose to attend Emory University, why did you decide to go there? What have your experiences been like? If you could start over, would you still have gone there?

@Xandrarius5678 have you received any feedback (personal messages? ) on inquiries about Emory?.my son applied there and is going for weekend scholarship interviews soon.i know little about the school other than its supposed to be great university; my husband is very concerned about safety as it is so close to big city of Atlanta. Son was accepted to Oxford for first 2 years of studies (which is 40 miles outside Atlanta)…
Maybe read or repost your question here:
@123Monkey
Is the upcoming weekend your son’s first visit? Once you guys visit you’ll see that the campus is nowhere near downtown Atlanta. It feels much more suburban than urban.
My son’s a freshman there, and my sister lived near the campus for decades (we’re out in northern CA). Safety won’t factor in as in issue when he’s making his decision.
And it’s a wonderful school.
Thanks much…his father is very concerned about his safety. Can I personal message you?
My D is a sophomore at Emory and has been very happy (excellent school for undergrads.) She wanted to go to school someplace warm (we’re from the NE) and be academically challenged. The main campus is located in Druid Hills, a safe and upscale suburb about 5 miles from downtown Atlanta. She found the airport easy to navigate and liked the non-stop flights home, which also played a part in her selecting Emory over other colleges.
@123Monkey - Emory, as stated, is in Druid Hills which is really a very safe area. Oxford is more or less in Covington, which is pretty rural and not a high crime area at all, unless you count the vampires, werewolves, witches and such running around during the VD filming season…
