As the title questions, what appeals to those of you who have applied to Emory or current students of Emory? By the way, I'm currently a HS junior.

Atlanta...

I'm from California, and not really familiar with Atlanta. Can you please elaborate, esrajay?

damn, a reply in 4 min?
Anyway, look up best cities to live in. Atlanta will be in most of them and if you average the rankings from all the guides, Atlanta will probably be #1. Plus, the weather is incredible and jobs abundant. It is amazing.

because emory is awesome, and atlanta is even awesomer (even though thats not a word).

That essay was actually fun for me to write...even though Emory is in NO way my top choice. I'm from Atlanta and I literally wrote that the "vibe" was why I wanted to go to Emory. Emory has spectacular student involvement in everything from Tibetan week to Emory Christian Fellowship to sports. The students on campus are friendly, the learning environment is superb, and it's a fantastic research university where students are privy to classes and lectures by Jimmy Carter to biomedical engineering lectures. It's got everything. Atlanta is a great town, it's just I don't really want to stay in the same place I've lived my entire life. But you ought to definitely look into it! (by the way, what part of CA are you from? I'm most likely going to school in the Bay area)

Icabod05, check your private messages.

I'm a soph from the San Francisco area. I love the bay area, but I've come to realize that Atlanta's a great city. In fact, I'm probably staying in Atlanta for the summer. The school is amazing because you have so many opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities. Also, the teachers really care about their students. I have teachers that I had first semester last year come up and talk to me and they still remember stuff like where I'm from and what activities I'm involved in. I agree with Icabod that there's definitely an awesome vibe. It may not be for everyone, but I personally love it. If you haven't visited the school you should because once you get a feel for the student body and the school you'll be able to figure out why Emory is perfect for you or isn't quite for you. Also, Icabod what Bay Area schools are you looking at?

Berkeley and Mills College (and Santa Cruz...). Mills is my top choice though--do you know much about it?

I have friends at Mills. They like it over there.

I actually don't really know anything about it.

I'm from Oregon and I really like that southern hospitatlity. Everyone is really friendly; it provides for a nice atmosphere.

'Many students decide to apply to Emory based on our size, location, reputation, and yes, the weather. Besides these valid reasons to choose Emory as a possible college choice, why is this university a particularly good match for you? '

This is the question in the app. Any reasons, appart from the location and weather, why it would be a good match? And can someone tell me a few unique characteristics about emory? oh and im applying for math, anything thatll make me a good match?

You do realize that its kinda late to do the supplement? The deadline is three days, and they really prefer everything a long time before the deadline.

no its not. thats what deadlines are for.

jawaad, Why else would i come here for help....

Instead of saying that you can give a few pointers.

Don't be lazy next time

Do some research...maybe even care a little about the colleges you might be spending 4(+) years and $160,000(+) at........

They really want you to show that you know about the school. That's the whole point of the question. Just look on the Emory website and you can see some clubs and stuff we have and go from there. I'm a math major and what I like about the program is it's pretty small (as in there aren't a lot of people majoring in math). The teachers are nice and really want to help. One of my teachers from a year ago still says hi to me on campus and asks me what I've been up to.

Jawaad, i've done almost all my work on the last minute for the 6 colleges i have already applied to and that is not because i didnt care but because i worked hard on it. so dont tell me what to do.

Cubs and emrystudent thanks. i did research and wrote it and now i'll just add these few things to it. thanks :)
