why did you guys do during summer after senior year in high school? also are there any internships/jobs for graduating high school seniors?

im gonna relax before the storm....well thats the plan

Yep, there are internships available specifically for hs seniors. Check with your Career Resource Center. I'm in the progress of finding a research position over the summer... if not I'll work... a lot.

just chill, seriously you guys need a rest before the real business gets underway

I worked in an engineering firm after my senior year of high school. Mainly answering the phones, but then they let me do some drafting (the old-fashioned kind, on a drafting board!). It was a great way to learn a little about structural engineering consulting. I liked the work and the people. I worked there during most vacation breaks all during college, gradually doing more and more engineering. It made the coursework more interesting, to know how it was applied.

MaineLonghorn- which company did you work for?

I did IT work for a local school. It was fun. Only about a 10 minute car ride away, I liked the guys I worked with, and, after having been there the whole summer, made me really glad I was going to get an engineering degree instead of attending ITT Tech.

Are there any subjects anyone wishes he/she would have studied more before going into engineering in college? For instance, I know very little about trig or matrices or other random topics because I've had terrible math teachers. Would it be worth it to study these over the summer, or do you think I will be able to catch up during school?

study them over summer! You will definitely need to know those ideas. (I have had crappy math teachers as well).

Thanks! I knew I should probably study them, but now I have a concrete reason :] Any other specific topics or especially resources I can use to learn more?
